Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

RunRunBob here at the end of week 6. This week was hard. I timed my mile last Sunday at just a titch over 13 minutes, and then started week 6 on Monday. That went OK, but I definitely felt tired. Wednesday's day 2 was also a struggle, and then yesterday, I started my run too late in the morning as the heat started to rise, and had to take the double stroller w/two kids on a route different from my usual. I couldn't get a good rhythm and couldn't find my focus. Stopped running about 10 minutes in. Felt really disappointed about not being able to complete the 25 minute run. I think in addition to pushing the stroller and being on unfamiliar terrain, my littlest guy has been waking in the middle of the night this week, so my own rest has been terrible. I'm going to try w6d3 again tomorrow without the stroller and before the heat and see if I have better luck. Bleh.

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Congrats to our 5K'ers!!!!  No matter what the time (which in my book was great for each of you), you DID IT!! What an accomplishment.  Way to go.

As far as me, I did W7 one more  time today.  I had completed it on Thursday, but didn't want to go too many days w/o running so I just did it one more time.  Will start week 8 on Monday.  Feeling good and looking forward to getting to that 30 min mark!

HADABABYITSABOY----Huge Congratulations!!!!  I think that is awesome!  What you have done is truly impressive.  It's very difficult balancing life after having a baby.  You have truly given us some encouragement.

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

RunRunBob - Sorry to hear you were struggling this week.  Hope it goes better for you next time.

Did my W5 day 3 this morning and I am happy to say I did the whole 20 minutes without stopping!!  When the twenty minutes were up I slowed down to cool down but my legs felt like they were still running!

I am fired up about moving on to week 6.  If all goes as planned, my schedule this week will probably be Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

Have a beautiful evening and I will be looking for a new thread tomorrow.  Adios for now!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

W8D1 finished this evening!  I had a major charlie horse in my calf, managed to work it out.  Had an epiphany moment, trying to do too much.  I have been able to run 3 miles on a few times, and I had the mind set that I would run 3 miles every time I run.  I realize why this whole thing has suddenly become no fun for me.  I'm trying to do too much.  Going back to what made me feel successful and accomplished, following this program as scheduled.  Working on being a fitter, stronger me.  One run at a time!

Hey Guys and Gals!

We seem to have lost a bunch of witnesses this week.  IF YOU'RE LURKING... PLEASE POST and let us know how you are doing!

Congrats to mfssl on the 20 min run - AWESOME accomplishment!

mattmikesmom - I took your post to heart.  I've given up on running many times in the past due to pushing too hard and getting frustrated.  Glad to see you caught yourself and are going to stick to the program and "have fun" again!

I'm looking forward to the OHR program to keep me on track after completing these last two weeks of C25K.  I hope that as discussed previously this group can stay together for support.   Personally, I'm hoping to use the first couple weeks (30 min runs) to work on my pace since I've been ignoring that completely during this program.

Starting week 8 tomorrow. Looking forward to it.  Good running all!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Hi everyone,

Just checking in - I've been away from the computer for awhile over my nice, long 4th of July weekend.  It's been wonderful to read about everyone's accomplishments this morning.  Great job to everyone who has run a 5K, whether competitively or during a routine workout.  My roommate and I registered for a 5K over the weekend, so we have that to look forward to.  Our 5K is on July 22, which works out perfectly since that will be our week 9.

I'm definitely interested in pursuing another program after C25K - either One Hour Runner or possibly Gateway to 8K.  My goals for the next 6 months or so are to drop my 5K time down to under 30 minutes (I'm currently around 33 minutes) and to run a 10K.

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Hi WTF'ers.

Did week 8 Day 1 today- but unfortunately didn't finish it due to a WTF moment. Got up without my running partner (she's on vaca) and was still determined to do the 2.75 miles (and actually was excited to try it!).

Well I got on the treadmill and about 1.5 miles into the run I had to pee SO BAD. I should have gone before hand when I thought I might have to pee, but of course I didn't. I decided to run as much as I could, and ended up just at about 2 miles (26 minutes) and I couldn't take it anymore and hopped off the treadmill and ran to the bathroom. So tomorrow is a new day and hopefully  I won't be such a moron!

Re: ~~~ CALLING ALL WITNESSES - WEEK 7 IS HERE~~~~~

Misty,

I've had that WTF moment more times than I can count in the last 7 weeks!  Unfortunately, I'm usually halfway around the lake when my bladder decides it's 'time' and I can't stop anywhere! I totally feel your pain.

As for my running - well, the holiday weekend proved to take me right off schedule, technically I have my W6D3 run left to do today before starting W7.  I'm planning to go to a water aerobics class tonight with a friend who wants to check out my gym, so I may just jump in to W7 (same run anyway!) tomorrow.

I did treat myself to some new shoes when I signed up for my first 5k, I'm very excited to give them a whirl this week.

Hope everyone had a great holiday, and good runs to everyone this week!
