What HRM do you use?

And are you happy with it? I am looking at the Polar R200 with footpod, but saw it got horrible reviews on Road Runner Sports. Any thoughts on this model or any others you like/dislike.

Thanks for the time.

Haven't looked at the reviews @ RRS, but I have the RS200sd and am pretty happy with it. I?d be happy to answer any questions you might have about it.

Re: What HRM do you use?
Suunto makes the best accelerometer-based units -- though quite pricey I forewarn. Otherwise Polar is the gold standard though their accelerometer isn't quite as good as Suunto's.

1-milerunner: Check out Polar's HRM-only models. You can find them relatively inexpensively from retailers.

Cheers,
Knight

Re: What HRM do you use?
What is most important to you? Is it the heart rate monitor or the acclerometer/device to measure distance? Or both?

I owned the Polar Rs 200 with acclerometer and enjoy my Garmin 305 much much better and it is more accurate than the acclerometer.

With the acclerometer, it was fairly accurate but I didn't want to mess with calibrating it all the time for different shoes plus it seemed to vary in accuracy when I ran different paces. Also, the weight of it on my foot developed some mild tendonitis in top of foot. Just my thoughts.....

I'm using a Nike triax c6. Actually, I indefinately borrowed it from my dad after my polar batteries died. It is a Polar S150. I miss my polar.

Re: What HRM do you use?
I just use a 10 second pulse count. Cheaper than a HRM and
better in the long run. After you've run 25+ yrs you get a feel
for training and HR"s.
