Born and raised outside of Philadelphia but moved to Upstate of South Carolina about 2 years ago. This is my first MCM and first marathon in general. This is a BIG deal for me, as I am sure it is for everyone else. About 5 years ago, I weighed 345 lbs and could not even walk. Having run several 5Ks and 10Ks and a HM last year, this was something I never really thought I could do. I am still early on in training (10-miler this past Saturday), but I am ready for the challenges that are ahead.
Be well,

YEAH Dan, what an accomplishment. Good luck with your training. And you're right, a marathon is a big deal for 99% of the population. The other 1% train for bionic (iron man, 100 milers, 50 milers) accomplishements.
Dan, my first 10 miler was in 1970, solo, unofficial, and recalled as fondly to this day as any run since. Enjoy what you accomplish along the way! It's NOT all about a marathon. Congratulations!
Thanks to you both, dutch and Immer. It has been incredible. I know I still have some weight to lose (230 lbs now, aiming ultimately for 200) but this whole thing is life-changing. To try to explain what it means to me, to others on the outside, is next to impossible, really.
