54 cm Bike

Greetings to all,..Guidance please?...

(Make Novara Stada 54cm)
My girlfriend bought me a 54cm bike for x-mas...I have approx 100miles under my belt. My friend said the bike was a tad bike to small for me. I am a male 5'11" and weight 165 Lbs...Many Thanks...

I feel comfortable, but again i am a newbie...Should I sell this unit or keep it?..

Re: 54 cm Bike
Your girlfriend bought you the bike for Christmas, I think you keep it and ride it. : )

I went to their web site and looked at it, your friend could be right about it not quite fitting you, or maybe not. Hard to say. Your best bet is to take it to a real bike shop and get fitted. You will have to pay for the service, one of the hidden costs of buying over the internet. The biggest issues with frame size are top tube height (can you straddle the frame comfortably) and top tube length (can you reach the handle bars comfortably). If it is way off then you need to move up to their next biggest frame size. They can also put a longer stem on to increase the distance from the saddle to the handle bars.

Re: 54 cm Bike
You have a girlfriend who is willing to not only support your cycling, but buy you a bike...I'd keep her! Oh, and regarding the bike, I agree that you should go and get professionally fit. Those guys are wizards! Ask other cyclists in your area for recommendations on where to go. Some bike fittings are performed by unqualified people and are worthless. A good bike fitting can make all the difference! Good luck!
