Running makes me sleep a lot ...normal?

Hi,

I'm building up toward my 1st marathon in January and just hit the 30+ miles per week mark. At the end of my running week now, I crash hard ... falling asleep early that night and sleeping 3 or 4 hours more than normal the next couple of days. I'm 50 and don't think I have any underlying medical conditions ... just curious if this is a normal adjustment for my body?

Here's this weeks schedule (in miles) if that matters 10-4-6-4-6-4-0. The last 6 mile day is around marathon pace, but everything else is even slower. No speedwork at all.

I run 60-70 per week and I can sleep anywhere anytime.  You'll adjust soon.

Yes this is normal. I am currently training for a 1/2 at the end of Sept and am running 35-40 per week. Here are my runs for this week. 14-6-0-9-0-6 on the 0 days I am doing 1-2 hours of indoor spinning classes. The 9 on Wed is a tempo run at 7:30 pace and the fri workout is intervals. I sleep very well on saturdays

yeah that's normal.  I am 6 weeks out from a marathon and the last month or so I could eat and/or sleep all the time.

I run only about 25 miles a week...and I could go to sleep anytime! lol  In fact...I crave to go to bed at dusk!

I read in Runner's World recently that your nightly sleep need increases by a minute for each extra mile you run in a week.
