When is a wetsuit "needed"

I will be doing an Oly Tri this weekend and I'm a little concerned about the water temperature. I expect it to be about 68 degrees, and I don't own a wetsuit. Will I regret this? It has been a while since I have been in water below 78 degrees, and honestly cannot remember how bad it was, plus I don't know what 68 might feel like. Any cooment from someone with experience would be very helpful.
I swam 1/2 mile in 71 degrees and regretted not having one. Some people I know swim in diving wet suits. I'm still a beginner at this, but my recomendation is rent one.
Hi Mark!
68 degrees is a little chilly! I would definitely say you need a wetsuit. You can judge the temperature like this: A pool at a gym is typically 82-83 degrees, a competition pool is typically 79 degrees, and if it's a hot summer day, you will feel refreshed in a 77 degree pool. Anything below 75 degrees is kinda cold and your muscles will definitely tighten up on you.
Good luck! I hope this helps!
