Runny nose

This may sound like a silly question, but....

Anyone else just have a constant running nose when they race? I am fine through out the rest of the day -- inside or outside (probably not allergies). But get me running, and my nose runs to beat all heck. I could almost take a whole box of kleenex out on my run with me. The worst is when I forget and I have to attempt farmer's blows to get my head clear.

Is there any help beyond dosing with Sudafed before each run or buying stock in facial tissue companies? I have heard of exercise-induced asthma but what about exercise-induced drippy nose.

Re: Runny nose
Not sure mine is as bad as yours but my sinuses sure open up when I start running. I think it is from increased blood flow and possibly changes in the histamine system as well. I just country blow and don't let it bother me.

Re: Runny nose
Actually it's very common. I get it even worse when I'm cycling. I don't take anything for it except for a few weeks in the spring when it's clearly due to allergies. I barely notice since I've always had it and I'm 45.

Re: Runny nose
I also get a runny nose and tearing eyes. I wear a tennis-style sweat band on my wrists so I can wipe my nose...it works very well and keeps the drips under control.
