4goodreasons - you made me smile because when I started this in May, that was EXACTLY what I used to say  to DH when I got home -- "Well, I didn't die."  I am up to running 10k now, a short run for me is 5k....stick with it and it does get easier!  I promise!!!!  You will be amazed at where you will be in a couple months.

ovenfried -- that's the way to buy good shoes!  I hope you are as happy with your selection as I was with mine!!!!  I've had mine for almost 3 months now and I am just about to buy a second pair of the same shoe.  I went to a sports physio on Friday night and she validated my shoe choice -- apparently the running store recommended the exact shoes that I need for my feet.  I already knew they were good for me, but it was nice having it confirmed.

Thank you GoRunIrish and brpssm!  I was hoping that's what you guys would say!  I can't even bring myself to look ahead at the training schedule... I will take it one trip at a time (I hesitate to say run... not sure if what I did actually qualified).  But I hope it will turn into actual running soon!! Starting to feel better..might be able to make it through the afternoon after all!!!

    Re: 200lbs+....C25K....Sept28ish

Jasmine:  Yes I did a great deal of walking before I started running...  I started walking in May, and every morning for 2-3 months I worked up to at least 3 Miles everyday.  That slowly got soo boring that I was losing motivation so I started to c25k.  That went really well no major aches or pains or set backs... I think the walking was the main reason for that.  I can already run 30+ minutes without breaks, but without a schedule to follow I found myself not pushing as hard as I should.  So I started the Gateway to 8k to have something to follow, and get me up to 5 miles of running.  So far its been great!

This is to EVERYONE: I know some of us have said this 1000x ... but seriously, folks. If I can do this, we all can do this. I dont know about everyone else but I'm going for distance and endurance NOT SPEED. At my weight , the only thing I speed to is FOOD.

Sometimes my BF will run w/ me and he'll say maybe you should run a little faster... I tell him,  "listen sweetpea- at 5'3" I dont have a whole lotta extra stride. It's not like I'm holdin' out on the long stride or somethin'!! I have small legs, but they'll keep movin' and thats all that I need them to do right now.

GoRunIrish, to what Turkey Trot are you referring? There's one up here Minnesota way...

I'm actually in Boston.  I meant Boston College (traditionally, we're not big fans of the Fighting Irish) :8}.  Totally forgetting about BC Canada, to tell you the truth!! Sorry for the confusion!

I just completed W2D1.  We have our fall weather beginning here which I LOVE. However we also have 20mph winds going on today which I didn't love so much. I figure I must have burned at least 1,000 calories running in the wind. Well a girl can dream anyway. I told my friend after running in that wind today, Wednesday should be a piece of cake.........ummm cake.....

OK, I'm starting tomorrow.  I fit into this catagory and I am thrilled to have a place to post that I won't feel like the biggest person on the "track".  I've actually done the C25K program before and I felt great.  There is nothing like running for the body and soul.  This seems like a great place and I look forward to watching all of our progress.
