Treadmill vs Running Outside

I have only been running since June. I have noticed a difference in the muscles I use.
Whenever I run outside, my "quads" really get a workout and are sore the next day. Even with stretching before and after, I definitely feel them.
When I run on the treadmill, I feel more tenderness in my calves. Stretching all the muscles helps the soreness.
I just find it fascinating that different muscles are affected different ways with the same activity.
Running is my ME time!
