I am doing it!!!

I signed up to run/walk the BOO Run 5K in Flowery Branch on 10/31/09 (also my Birthday!!!).  I had told a friend of mine about 2 months ago that I would participate with her, and then I bailed on her because I was afraid that I would finish last.  Well, I have decided that I don't care if I end up walking the whole way and finishing last...I am gonna do it!!!

Re: I am doing it!!!

Good for you, Kris!   Be prepared to be bitten by the running bug!

I did my first 5K in September.  I wasn't the slowest, but I finished last in my age group.  It has spurred me on to try to improve my time for my next 5K on Thanksgiving day.   But even if I'm last again, I know it will still feel like I won, because I was there taking part!

Re: I am doing it!!!

I'm also doing my very FIRST 5K run on October 31.  I wasn't sure if I was going to do it or not because I sprained my ankle two weeks ago and had not done any running outside since the day before I hurt it. I had been running on the treadmill this week but due to the weather conditions here, I couldn't run outside.   I posed the question to you members about whether you thought I should go for it and the answer was yes from most of you.  My ankle is feeling ok, so I'm going to go for it.  I know I won't be running a very fast race, but my goal is to run and finish.  I don't know about you, but I am both nervous and excited about tomorrow's run.  GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!  I hope you have a great race.  Let me know how it goes.  By the way, does anyone have any helpful hints for this first time 5K runner?

Good for you! I also just signed up for a 5k on Thanksgiving! I am soooo excited!!! I didn't really believe I could do it since I was stuck on week 7 of the c25k program, but I finally got through it. Good luck to you, and let us know how you did.

I am doing my first 5k tomorrow as well!  Super nervous as this is only my 4th week of running, but my goal is to do it with only three one min. walk breaks.  runing another 5k in 6 weeks... plan to do that one all running!  Good Luck everyone!

You go girl!  I doesn't matter where you finish, the high of completing the event will be exhilarating.

I know where Flowery Branch is, too! (I'm in Dallas, GA)

You'll do great! Just enjoy it and have fun!

I'm running my 2nd in Roswell- The Big Pumpkin Run, so I'll be thinking of you.  I'll also keep my fingers crossed that we stay DRY!!! Make sure to post how it goes and what you thought of it.

Enjoy your runs!  Kudos for getting out there!  Don't worry about coming in last--the world doesn't end and you don't die from embarassment (speaking from experience).  You'll be amazed at how supportive everyone is.
