Re: Women's Running Magazine Women's Half Marathon & 5K Reviews

I think the fact that it is advertised as a women's half marathon sponsored by a women's running magazine says it all.   The medal converts to a necklace and the race packet has 'Pink Crocs". However, if you really feel the need to run with the women, I am sure you will be treated with respect.

I have run in a couple of races geared at women, and none have specifically excluded men, and there are always a few men there.  To my knowledge none have been taken out back and lynched....and none of the women came across as anti-male.  It is just a nice time when women can get together and compete on a friendly basis....

I believe that all events, (5k, half marathon, triathlon, etc.), have raised their fees significantly in the recent years. I don't like it any more than any one else, that's for sure. But, these events have become extremely popular, so you pay to play I suppose I must also say that for the men who don't like the fact that women have their "own events", get over it. Seriously? Sometimes women just like to "hang out" and feel comfortable around other women. Nothing against you men. Lighten up. Don't you guys have poker night or something

Re: Women's Running Magazine Women's Half Marathon & 5K Reviews

Most of my group is doing the half marathon but I decided to do the 5k.  This is the most expensive 5k I have ever registered for!!  While some races have gone up in price most are still in the $20-$30 range.

I am sure it will be a nice race and good time and the weather should be great.  Good luck to all running.

The entry fee seems steep but going to an awesome cause. Running it with my sister to support our brother recently diagnosed with Lymphoma. He is running the most difficult race of his life having to endure close to a year of chemotherapy. I am sure that he wants to quit on some days as I want to when I am running at times. The doctors are saying that his prognosis is good and this is only due to research partially funded by events like these.

Well-organized and efficiently run (pardon the pun). I missed packet pick-up, however, and they did not have packets at the race. While I agree that there was ample opportunity to pick up in advance, this will have to be remedied, as some were out of town during pick up or FROM out of town and could not have picked up. Otherwise I thought it was swell!

Wow! What an amazing race. The course was beautiful. I would have liked an earlier start time. By 8:30 the heat and humidity were awful. Not a bad experience. I really enjoyed running.

This was a phenomenal race!!! Great , Beautiful route (with excellent supply of water stations and port o pots!), Great energy from all the smiling faces of runners and walkers! I was on vacation and actually registered for a different race, but decided to do this one instead. I'm SO glad I did!!!! Nothing like coming to Florida to visit family and have the opportunity to enjoy such a gorgeous and fun event!!! I WILL be back next year!!  Just want to agree on packet pickup...should have it  EARLY race morning as well....

Thanks for a GREAT HALF!!!

oh...one more thing... very nice touch on running through Tropicana Field! Being out of state my favorite part was definitely the course along the marina and pier and water front!

Great race for a first time.  Well stocked and staffed.  I would try to get the route changed a bit so we could use the entire street.  The course (road) was too narrow.  Very crowded with walkers and runners in the same race unless you started up front.  Spent more time weaving, jumping on the sidewalks etc. Next time lets hope mother nature would allow some cooler weather.  Very warm.

Great event, but a felt like the walkers and runners should not have been let off at the same time, it was a little tricky getting around them with curbs and all.  Otherwise very fun event!

Great event!  Well-staffed and well-organized.  Great goody bag and awesome medal with charm (although the charm is a bit on the heavy side, but it is very nice looking).  Plenty of water stops, could have had a few more port-o-potties throughout but overall very well done.  I LOVED running through Tropicana field (for those who didn't run it - we actually did a lap on the field)!  That was my favorite part!

Great Race, but my Garmin said 13.29 (anyone else), lots of water stations, which was great!  All the volunteers were great!  Nice job to all!  where are the results?

Congrats to the staff and volunteers for putting on such a well organized innaugural race! The course was great, especially running through the Trop!! One thing I would change is to start the walkers AFTER the runners get through. It was a little tough getting around them, but otherwise, just a perfect day! I'll definitely run this next year!!

Great event! Volunteers were wonderful, plenty of water stations...great vendors at the expo although the space was tight. I would have loved to see a recycle bin or three at the race site... will be back next year!!
