The set up of the run was not a well organized as I thought it should have been. The traffic was not blocked off so we could run safely. The overall run seemed to take us around in circles and some of the workers were not as helpful as they should have been. Overall I am still glad a ran because of the cause that was involved. Being a prior abused wife myself 17 yrs ago.
This run was in support of a great cause, which made the disorganization of the route and some of the guides along it bearable. The first 30 or so of the 5K finishers were directed to come into the finish from the wrong direction and this was still over the 5k distance. Once they corrected the route in it was was even longer for the remaining finishers. I think they will learn from this one and make more improvements next year.
This was one for the record books. There were people running everywhere. It was like a free for all. Runners were coming across the finish line from both directions! I drove down from Raleigh to run what I knew was a flat 10K, but I ended up running over seven miles. I'm glad I had my Garmin for mile splits. The course monitors didn't seem to know who to direct where. Bad things can happen when two races are run over portions of the same course. If they run this race again next year, check for major changes in the layout if you plan to run it.

Pretty poor organization resulting in all 10K runners doing either 6.7 miles or 7.3 miles. It wouldn't have been so bad, but they brushed over their mistake and didn't do anything to try to fix the results.
The course was messed up from the start and then got further messed up when the 10K blended with the 5K so some 10K runners finished with the 5K runners while the other 10K runners completed the 10K course.
The whole ceremony at the beginning was a little too much. Most runners just want to get going. For those who like to warm up, this left everyone's bodies cold by the start of the race.
Also, overall FEMALE should be recognized, as well as the male, especially when prize money is available. Women can compete with men in much longer distances, but they will rarely win a 5K or 10K race over a man.
Also, the time clock was for the 5K time. A time clock should never give precedence to a shorter distance run. It should always be for the longer distance.
Hopefully, next year will be better, but it will take A LOT of improvement. Very disappointing.
