Pace Question

Ok. My garmin timed my last 5k at 27:18 for a pace of 8:31, but when I look at the results page for the race and using various other calculators I get either my Garmin time or I get a pace of 9:48. I have been staring at job related numbers way too long today and i am probably missing something pretty simple and obvious, but I digress and ask for the publics help in this quest.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Pace Question

I don't know where the 9:48 pace comes from (which equates to 9.8 minutes after converting seconds to tenths of a minute). But 27:18 (or 27.3 minutes) doesn't equal a pace of 8:31 per mile either (or approx. 8.5 min). Assuming the race was truly 3.1 miles (as Spicegeek asked), then your pace would be about 8.8 minutes (8:48).
