Cannot get past calf pain

Ran my first 1/2 marathon and I strained my calf muscle the week before race trying to run too far.  Stayed off leg for entire week before race.  1 mile into race felt burning paining in calf.  Continued running entire race.  Rested for week after race, started training following week with low mileage.  Cannot get past 4 miles without burning pain, I have resorted to riding my bike to stay in shape.  I bought The Stick and have been using to speed the recovery.  No real bruising or swelling.  I do not want to tear anything and really set me back.  I am training for another 1/2 in Feb.  Is this realistic if i cannot get past 4 miles now.

You still have time to get ready for a half  in February even if you are currently at 4 miles.  Having already run a half recently,  it will not be like you are starting from scratch for the Feb race even if you shoud have to take some time off.  Having said that, you might have to get that calf checked out.  The strain in your calf could actually be a sign of achillies tendonitis which can get further aggravated (or ...tear) if not treated carefully.  I'm sure you have tried it, but see if icing it, resting it a little bit more and taking it easy on the runs when you do run.   Maybe babying it will help to alleive the pain but if that should not work, go see a doctor.
