I saw several links to podcasts here http://techmedia.typepad.com/c25k/page/3/   and also a link from that page to this page on how to create your own podcast using Audacity http://www.creativexposurephoto.com/running/

For my first podcast, I picked several of my favorite songs and used the voice prompt on that second page.  The countdown voice is a bit spooky, lol, but I didn't want to look for another one.  I will probably make more at some point and use some of the one's others have posted.

I'd like to join y'all if that's okay.  I did W1D1 last night.  I will be a little bit behind everyone, but would love the accountability.  =)

Re: Starting C25k this weekend 10/24 or 10/25/09. Anyone want to join me?

Hi SleepHeight!  I love the internet to help me with accountability 'cause none of my family or friends have any interest in running! You probably won't really be behind.  Today was my second run, but I am going to have to do Week 1 at least twice.

I did W1D2 today. Perfect fall weather!! Very brisk breeze, but felt good with temps in the 70s.  I went over to the local park today to be able to run on pavement instead of gravel. That was much better.  I stuck to the plan til around 15 minutes (that would be a 5 minute warm up  walk and 10 minutes alternating) when my husband called me from work.  I just walked the remaining 20 minutes while talking to him.  My shins were not hurting as bad at the point that he called, but still think it really was for my best that I just finished with the walking.  I am planning to run again on Sunday and aiming to get 15 minutes of walk/run at least.

For me, I know what I can do and don't want to give up because I have hurt myself or hate it, so I am purposely easing my out of shape butt (literally, lol) toward long term goals.

Hope everyone is blessed with beautiful running weather (whatever that means to each of you) and schedules that allow you to get out there and do it

Re: Starting C25k this weekend 10/24 or 10/25/09. Anyone want to join me?

I did week 1 day 3 yesterday.  It's going pretty well so far, but like Susan, I'm wondering how next week will be.  I'm used to doing a lot of walking, but only about 30 seconds of jogging at a time.  Doubling to 60 seconds this week and bumping it up again next week is certainly harder work than my body is used to.

Hopefully the weather will stay nice enough that I can do at least some of the days outside.  It's more fun outdoors than on the treadmill.

Just finished week 2 day 1 and having hip and neck tightness.  I am tryinig to do extra stretching and some yoga on off days.  I think stretching and not feeling the pain the next day are key.  I'm running on a treadmill but would like to get outside where it's harder.

I just did w2 d1 today and also noticed some tightness in my left inner knee and outer shin???? Adding another 30 seconds was challenging especially because I finish my last two intervals going uphill!! Definitely feel it but keep telling myself I can do it! Now going to try these podcasts because I need some way to time myself other than counting or watching my watch...miss all the pretty tree's doing that! Looking ahead I'm hoping the podcast will go along week by week...does anyone else have hints you can give me?????  Grateful that it's the first of November and feels like spring outside!

Did w2d2 today and what a HUGE difference it made to do it with the podcasts! I downloaded it to my IPOD and found I was running to far by counting it! The music and voice cues let me relax, enjoy the view, and stay loose...totally enjoyed this morning and now I'm not to afraid of bumping it up next week. Hope everyone is doing well and always look forward to any inspirations here!

Re: Starting C25k this weekend 10/24 or 10/25/09. Anyone want to join me?

Susan - I agree! Listening to someone cue me to run/walk is way more efficient! I used the Robert Ullrey podcast on my W1D3 (part a,lol) instead of my own music podcast just to give me a change.  I really liked it.

I did make another podcast for myself to use this week, which is W1 (part b) for me.  I used my favorite celtic music which isn't high in beats per minute, but it is extremely relaxing to me and I just get lost in the songs.  W1D1 (part b, lol) was a success.  I was able to get through the whole thing as scheduled.  Very glad I decided to build up to it last week instead of giving up or hurting myself

I am planning to get new shoes in week 3 (would get them sooner, but the kids like to eat ).  There is a store in a nearby city that has an extensive fitting process that includes discussion, measuring, checking the foot structure, running on a treadmill in a "neutral running shoe" to check for pronation, etc.  These will be my reward for getting to week 3.  Thinking I might buy a couple of new workout shirts for week 5 (saw the C25K shirts).

Hope everyone finds their motivation! Enjoy the run! ~ Carrie

Hi everyone! I did W3D1 yesterday, and would love to join in! I started C25K on my own, but would love to have some support throughout this journey. I also know it will definitely help me stay accountable and less likely to fall behind.

Re: Starting C25k this weekend 10/24 or 10/25/09. Anyone want to join me?

I am on w3 day 2 tomorrow and I also really "felt" day 1 but surprised myself and completed it ok...for myself the podcast has been a huge help. I will hope tomorrow goes well already wondering when you know you need to repeat a week....do you have to repeat until it's "easy" or go on till you really can't complete the workout and stay there until you can do it? Anyone run into this yet? I am planning on doing a fun run/walk 5k on Thanksgiving morning and I am very excited about it. I'm not putting a lot of pressure on myself to run the whole thing since right now my 30  minute workout with the podcast takes me 2 miles so not up to that full 3 mile mark yet....but want to give it a try! I appreciate everyone's thoughts here it really helps!
