Let's make a top 10 list

Let's generate a Top 10 List on why our family and friends "put up with" or "support" our dedication to running.....

For example:

- It keeps me fit...

- It gets me out of the house for a while...

- If I don't run, I'm cranky.....

- My kids like to run too.....

- Etc.....

Re: Let's make a top 10 list
  • I have a better chance of surviving to see my children grow up.
  • Good role-model for our 6-year-old daughter who now lists "run the MCM with Daddy" as one of her goals
  • I'm far sexier now than before I started running (aside from my toes).

  • It makes me happy
  • Gives him some alone time
  • Gives him a little motivation to run more

I am definitely cranky when I don't get to run, and I too am sexier now than when I started - but those were already taken....

It just makes me more happy Much much much more.

They know that I won't be so nervous.

I am more active. So I can help others to do something, it's not tiring.

I am now training for a marathon.

Feel the joy of running

Re: Let's make a top 10 list
  • It makes me feel like I've accomplished something, something that not everyone else can do.
  • It helps me keep up with my 5 year old (who told his class that his favorite thing about summer was to go run with his dad.)
  • Ummm yeah, and sexier!

Re: Let's make a top 10 list

Because of all the crazy things I've done over the last 23 years of marriage, this is the first that I've actually followed through on and haven't given up (and won't).

Because if I don't run, they won't like me very much....the HM taper wasn't very pretty!

Because I like me better (cause I'm nicer and sexier!)

Because I've stopped eating all the junk food in the house and there is more for them now.

It's (marginally) less expensive than drugs/booze/women (or men, I suppose)/fountain pens/whatever else you might get addicted to that's expensive.

Because talk is cheap...miles don't lie.

My wife thinks I'm sexier...and that's all that matters.

I am proof that my family can lead a healthier lifestyle...and its working.

Re: Let's make a top 10 list

I told my husband that this year I either wanted to train for a marathon or have a baby...

He's very supportive of all the running all of the sudden!

Re: Let's make a top 10 list

CaryAN about peed my pants laughing at that one, my husband would have become Mr suppotive also, but for grins I should give him the same options ans see what he says...

So here are MY top reasons for running progressive from why I started to what keeps me running

1 I was envious of my super athletic SIL and all the praises she got for her racing

2 I registered for a race so I couldn't quit

3 I announced the race to my entire family so they would know if I quit

4 I discovered I am stronger than I (and those arround me) thought

5 I want to show my children that exercise is better than dieting/starving

6 I need the time to myself to be better for those I love

7 I feel better about myself mentally/physically/emotionally

8 I have discovered I love the tired I feel after

9 I feel more energized on the days I run

10 I like what running has done to my body (and so does my husband)

11 I want to keep pushing to see what I am made of

so I dont know how to add the link but I do blog on here, if you want to know more about me, just go through my profile page

Re: Let's make a top 10 list

***  It's so much fun when your band aid comes off  ...  and you don't realize it until you finish your run  ...  and realize the blood streak down the front of your shirt  ...  and the wife frowns and shakes her head.  Hey, tell me another sport where that happens huh.

***  Having a long run on a Saturday morning  ...  starting early  ...  and when you get back home  ...  going out to pick up the paper and the neighbor is picking up theirs  ...  in their bathrobe  ...  and you think  ...  "Hey buddy, I'm 20 miles ahead of you".

***  Driving somewhere and the friend with you complains about the long drive  ...  and you say  ...  "I ran longer than that on Sat morning".

***  Running a HM with my wife or my daughter.  Now that is cool.

***  They really, really like the framed marathon momentos (medal, bib, pic) that I make afterwards  ...  especially of them.

***  Taking weekend excursions/vacations to marathon destinations.

***  And the #1 reason  ...  me wife secretly "loves" the aroma eminating from the utility room  ...  where I left my running shoes.
