Registration process for next year ?

I`m considering MCM next year - I took a look at the web site and it seems there is some early registrion at other marathon expos -alas NYC wasn`t one of them - When does general registration open for the masses and how does it work - is it first come first served ? or some kind of lottery ?

Re: Registration process for next year ?

The last couple of years, registration has opened during the first few days in April.  First come basis.  No lottery.  Best to register early.  Next year is the 35th running, so it may close down earlier than usual.  The norm has been 2 weeks give or take.  But the fastest has been somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 days.  There will probably be other opportunities to register early.  Talk to you soon.

MCM is a great race!! Check out my blog for pics and videos if you want an idea of some of the amazing things you'll get to see.

General registration opens in the spring. I can't remember if it's March or April. Registration fills somewhat quickly- in the past it has ranged from a few days to a week or more- but I've never heard of anyone who tried to register the first day and was unable. In the past it has been first come first serve with the exception of the military who are able to register a few days earlier, and people who have run 5 MCMs already.

BTW I saw you rocked out your NYC marathon- congrats! One day I'll be able to run that fast

I do today what you won't, so tomorrow I do what you can't.

Re: Registration process for next year ?

There is also the "Run to Register" 10K, if you feel like making a trip to Quantico in March.  Finishing gets you a guaranteed entry.

If you go for the open registration, keep an eye on the website in March, and try to register on the first day.  Because it's the 35th, it probably will sell out a little faster than it has the last few years (about two weeks).  The fastest it sold out was about 64 hours, which I think was for the 25th running.

Re: Registration process for next year ?

I know that you looked at the site, but I'll post this for the benefit of anyone who looks at this thread. Following are the upcoming marathon expos where MCM registration code can be obtained:

Event

Expo   Dates

Deadline

Honolulu Marathon

Dec 9 - 12

Apr 1

Disney World   Marathon

Jan 7 - 9

Apr 1

Miami Marathon

Jan 29 - 30

Apr 1

Myrtle Beach Marathon

Feb 12 - 13

Apr 1

Little Rock Marathon

March 5 - 6

Apr 1

ING Georgia Marathon

Mar 19 - 20

Apr 1

Boston Marathon

Apr 16 - 18

May 3

Nashville Country Music Marathon

Apr 22 - 23

May 3

The other option as Len has mentioned is the Run To Register 10K. For those living in Northern Virginia, MCM usually has an early registration drive a day or two before the web site registration starts. And it typically closes in about 2 weeks (give or take a couple of days) after the web registration starts.
