Re: First 5k time...

23:25.  But I had already been racing for a couple years, mostly 10Ks.

Just under 27:00.    That was 12 years ago and I never beat that time since.  ?????

Re: First 5k time...

I just did my first a few weeks ago and it was 31:18.  I came in pretty much dead center of all racers, so I was Ok with that, though I was hoping for 30 or better!  Got two more coming up in early December, so we'll see if I can improve.

Re: First 5k time...

Mine was 2 weeks ago and I did 24:22 (7:51 pace).  I was pleased with that, not knowing what to expect and hoping for under 31:00.

Re: First 5k time...

Mine was 38.00. I thought it would be close to that. I just started running at the end of August and was out for two weeks with a bum knee. Plus I have a nine month old baby so I am sure happy with my results. Hoping this time next year I will be faster and able to run more distance. I have never been a runner. I am so loving it!

Re: First 5k time...

Funny story about my first 5K.  It was a huge race--Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, and I had pre-registered through Active.com.  When I got to the race, they didn't have a record of my registration, so I had to fill out another form, and got my race packet.  I ran my race as best as I could, and as a newbie logged a very respectable 36:44 time.  I was so proud of myself!!  I knew I wasn't even near finishing in the top three of my age group, so after the race I left with my family for a celebratory breakfast.  When I looked up my results a few days later, I wasn't on the list in the 36 minute range.  I was so upset thinking that I would have no record of my first race!  Then, just out of curiosity, I looked at the top times.  My name was listed as the #3 female!!  Sara Howard 17:22!!  Now, l can assure you guys that there was no way I ran that race in under 18 minutes.  The only thing I can figure is that someone else picked up my race number and was running AS me.  Poor them.  They didn't get the recognition that they deserved!!

Anywho.  THIS year, I hope that my time gets listed with my name, and I can have an OFFICIAL time that is a bit more realistic for this novice.

Re: First 5k time...

I ran my first 5k today at 33:47.5. I did it in intervals since that is the current training program I'm in (Fleet Feet Sports, No Boundaries: Couch to 5k). I did a 3.5 min Run / 1 min Walk. I'm very happy with my results.

Re: First 5k time...

Today was my first 5K event as well, I have never run more than 5 minutes at once before 2 months ago.

Today I finished at 39:06. It's better than I thought I could do.

Re: First 5k time...

My first 5K race time was 27-something. I think it was around 27:45. Don't recall exactly since it was in 1986!

Re: First 5k time...

My first, officially timed run was the Pat Tillman Run which is 4.2 miles (Pat's number at Arizona State University was 42) and I did it in 50.39 minutes.

My first actual 5K was at the Phoenix Zoo and my time was 38.06 minutes.
