Re: Cabbagetown Romp and Stomp 5k Reviews

Ran this last year and it was alot of fun.  We started on a side street and ended in the park.  Went home and came back later for the chili cookoff.  The weather was beautiful, the time of year is perfect for this event, the people involved were all great fun too.  Only criticism would be that they need to find a way to post the results.  I still don't know if they are up from prior years anywhere.

Is it Chomp and Stomp or Romp and Stomp?

KatieK06, the race is the Romp and Stomp. The chili cook-off and festival afterwards is the Chomp and Stomp... and they're both a lot of fun.

Does anyone know if the 1000 cap has been reached? I just found out that I'll be able to run, and my boyfriend would like to as well.

This race was rather disorganized.  I'm glad I picked up my packet 2 days before the race because on the day, they were short volunteers so the race did not start on time.  Also, the route was short - only maybe 2.65 miles - because it wasn't staged properly.  Other than that, it was a fun event and it's still working out the kinks.

It was no 5K, it was 2.48 miles. They could have easily added the required feet. I didn't stay for the food, but heard it was good. Next time, have someone run it with a GPS. I do.

That wasn't due to the race planners--the lead motorcycle missed a turn.

Nice course and great weather.  A perfect way to start the festival.

I like the course and the weather was perfect but I was disapointed it was shortened due to an error. Does anyone know fo sure EXACTLY how far we ran?? It was my first and I was trying to gauge this for the future.. Thanks

Aside from the course getting messed up, I thought this was a great run! There was great energy and it was a fun course through a cute part of Cabbagetown. There was a huge turnout too! I just hope that the runners don't get cold feet from the course debacle because it was a lot of fun! Getting free entry to the Chomp and Stomp is pretty nice too!

It was a nice run, but I'm really bummed that the course was shortened.  There was a great turn out and the weather couldn't have been better.

Fun race, but as others have said it was shorter than what we signed up for.  I saw a "Mile 1" marker but then nothing else until the finish line which was def less than 3 miles.  I would pick my packet up earlier than race day though.  Also, I was disappointed that we looped around and ran the same road twice.  All in all, it was fun and I'd probably do it again next year.
