First of all, I'm unbelievably excited to meet you all who you be running Vegas next month. We're only one month away now! I'm racing a 50K in San Fransisco on Saturday 12/5 and flying in to Vegas the night before the race so I'm hoping we can get a discussion going on where and when we'll be meeting up on Sunday after the race incase we get all mixed up and seperated on during the race itself. Do you guys have a place (resturant/bar) to suggest that is central to the host hotels where we can count on finding each other?
Depends on what you're looking for - are you looking for good food or cheap beer? I hear that Ellis Island is a good place for cheap food (with pretty good drink specials) Personally I was planning on hitting Metro Pizza for after the race (my 'something to look forward to when I finish').
Upcoming Races/Events:
Personal Running Blog: Photos And RunningNothing so far. None of us know Vegas, so it's hard to pick a spot. Most of us are staying at the Luxor, if that's any help.
We've come this far and it's still the same,
Runnin' out here in the rain.
Just one more mile, if only you could fly.

This $35 all-you-can-eat all day long champagne brunch at Luxor looks like a good place to start! http://www.luxor.com/dining/dining_more_buffet.aspx
Hey all you Vegas runners
Jen's sister lives and works in Vegas and Jen emailed her and we're waiting to hear from her. Otherwise that Luxor place sounds like it has potential that champagne and stuff.
Also, most of us are staying at the Luxor.
I also live in vegas, if there is something specific you're looking for, let me know, I can either get you some good places to check out or call ahead for a large group of people coming.
If any of you are up for it, the local chapter of the Hash House Harriers run on saturday evenings.

I'd like to organize one central meetup location for all of us. We're all mostly by Luxor and the other host hotels so in walking distance (not too far after the race!) is most desirable. I'd like to set it for a time that works for everyone, no matter when they finish the race. 4pm or sometime like that. I'd like to contact the venue and let them know how many of us to expect. Do we have a count for MCMers? Then see if the venue will cut any deals for our group. I'd like the place to be afforadable to begin with. Then I'd like to get an invitation together and invite more folks once we're set on this. Let's talk venue...

Pre-race (Saturday evening), pasta is a must for many. Jen's sister suggested Maggianos or Nora's Cuisine. Maggianos, of course, is a chain that we're familiar with. Nora's seems to have a good pasta selection at reasonable prices.
Post-race almost anything will do, usually casual, burgers, etc. would be fine.

I am in for the Saturday dinner as long as we are finished pretty early. I plan to be in the rack earlier than usual since it's a 6:15 AM start. Any time after the race is good on Sunday. My plane back to Phoenix doesn't leave until 11:00 or so on Monday morning. Looking forward to seeing everyone and hoisting a few after we are finished. Talk to you soon.

Doing the miles so they don't have to.
I put a note in fb, but will answer here as well. As a once in a while Vegas layover visitor I wanted to put in that the buildings there on the strip are HUGE and make things appear closer than they are. This will need to be considered post-race! The monorail system up and down the strip works well (and there are escalators to get to them (no steps). Also there are gazillions of food and refreshment choices in every location up and down. They are all very similar and you will not go hungry or thirsty. Relax, go in, and have a good time. Be very specific about meeting places - like I said, the buildings are humongous and "the front" or "the casino" or other such descriptions involve acres of territory.
I tried for a layover on that day, but wouldn't you know there is no match up. Shoot - all the times I've ended up in Vegas and been less than thrilled...oh well, I'll catch you all on the flip flop. Run like the wind! I am looking forward to the RR's and post race stories! What happens in Vegas...may end up on this board! Always something to keep in mind... ![]()
I'm with Karl about being in bed early the night before the race, 6:15 is what I call ungodly early. At least the ones coming from the East Coast have the jetlag advantage. And as far as after the race, wherever they serve chard and some food.
Becky, I'm so sorry about no layover for you, would have loved to meet you. But one never knows what comes up at the last minute, right?
