Steve,
Ty for your info, and help. WEll, there's never any swelling whatsoever, just the discomfort, which eventually turns a lil painful, if i don't stop entirely from a long run. My course, the one i run on, is a trail couse, has it's rough areas, where u have to jump over lil pot holes like, lil hills(not steep), sharp turns, etc, and long stretches of nice trail. And as i stated, my leg feels fine for 3 or so miles, before the inflaming starts.
This is or would've been my 6th maratathon, was goaling to run a 3:45 to 3;50, my PR is a 3:58, same marathon last year. This has been the year of injuries for me, started the year out with plantar faciitis in my right heal, finally got over it this past August, and now this. Oh, a strained muscle in my lower front left thigh too, ugh, it's ok now, what a year.
As for new shoes, i'm really skeptical, on buying new ones, well, on HIGH dollar ones anymore. For 30 years, i bought 30 dollars shoes basically, and never had any injuries, just the lil minor ones, then a couple of years ago, i started buyin 100 dollar shoes, and guess what, one injury after another, You know, that book, "BORN TO RUN", the chapters on running shoes, injuries, high price, thick cushion, etc, that part, just bout describes me, funny huh, haha. Btw, i'm 46 years old.
Anyways, ty for the info, i'm still hoping to run at least the half marathon.
P.S.
I know runners take meds such as advil or Ibuprofen, to ease some pain, due to running, i've never been much of a med taker, maybe i'll try that, but i do ice the area, and rub muscle rub gel on it.
