Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

Well, just finished W1D2 and it is only 0630!!  It was a little harder than D1, but worked through it and just slowed the running down a little.  Figured out that I desperately need gloves and something to cover my ears!  Gets a little chilly when that wind kicks up!  Nice to do this for myself without the kids!  I have been thinking about what Aubrey said yesterday---I need to do this for myself too!!

My husband and I are signing up for a 5K on 11/28.  I will be only finishing week 4, but figure I can run/walk it and not push to run the whole thing.  It is just something to look forward to!!

Hope everyone gets in their runs today and thanks for the encouragement to keep going!  It helps to read how others are doing too!!!

By the way, just got my seasonal flu shot yesterday too and my are is still hurting this morning!!

bwaybaby01 -  I know what you mean about it being cold in NY, I'm on long island and we have freeze warnings this morning.  I have been doing all of my running indoors on a treadmill.  I hope this doesn't effect my pace once I start running outside.

I have an "off" day today but will be running again tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone!

Debbie

Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

So happy to have finished week 1, thank you guys for keeping me focused. It has been great reading everyones comments knowing that we are all going through this together. I admire those of you who are up at 4:30am to do the session, what great commitment, you deserve to succeed.

I got up at the reasonable time of 6:15 even though it is my day off. I thought it would be better to stick to the routine.Gone were the blue skies of the previous mornings but that was expected as last night it was Bonfire Night (Remember, remember the 5th of November, gun powder, treason & plot) and it is always dull & cloudy the next day. I changed my route this morning and found it a little bit harder. I think that was because the new route was a rectangle, 2 short straight runs and 2 long straight runs whereas the D1 & D2 runs had pleanty of twists & turns through the town,

I now have 2 rest days and I am looking forward to W2.

Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

Morn'n ya'll

Ok so I got up at 5 and went for a slow run, Biscuit immediately ran out of my truck and was running in circles.  He didn’t run away he always stayed near me but not close enough for me to catch him.   Sighhhhhh.  I stood by my car and thought what am I gonna do?  But he came close enough for me to step on the leash and I caught him.  That little episode brought my heart rate up!

I was tired this morning and thought oh lets skip it.  But yesterday was my off day and during the early morning I was wishing I had at least walked.  SOOOO I got up got dressed and away I went. Proud of myself for that.  I will do it again tomorrow so I can officially start W2.

Cheers

Looking forward to my "Runners High"

W1D1     30:00              miles??      run went well, calves were burning

Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

readysteadygo - My best friend lives in London and I actually asked her just yesterday if she was going to go to a bonfire at night, and she said she's never actually seen a bonfire, lol. Too funny!

I finished W1D3 today, yay! Overall it was okay, but I felt a bit sluggish the whole time, and I wonder if that's due to to flu shot from yesterday. My arm is still sore, but it loosened up during the warmup walk so I didn't have any problem with pain during the sessions this morning. I did have the same issues catching my breath after sessions 6, 7, and 8 as I've had each day this week, so I'm curious how week 2 will go. But at least it's only 4 reps next week, even if they are 50% longer.

I'm very glad I did all three workouts during the week - my weekend is looking wide open at the moment. Just how I like it.

And now Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure. -APWBD

Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

Well I finished Week 1 this morning at about 3:30 and it went much better then the first two days. I've also been glad to notice more progress with the distance over the last week as I have gone from 1.88 miles on day one to 2.12 on day two and now 2.30 for the third run. I am interested in seeing how running for longer periods of time affects my distance. I am curious to see if I make it further or if I dont make it as far because I might be out of breath.

Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

I got W1D2 done yesterday morning.  When I got home I got a call from my boss asking me to come in.  I work in retail so this project she wanted me to do was unloading boxes and organizing shelves.  So more workout for me.  Needless to say I'm a bit tired.  However I can't complain.  I read alot of posts from you SAHM's and I'm exhausted just hearling about your struggles.  I can now remember why I never even toyed with the idea of working out when my kids were small.  I didn't have the guts or motovation or desire to do anything like this.  Now I'll be 42 next week and really regret what I've done to myself in the past.  But I can't go back in time and all I have is now.  I'll be a slow runner but at least I am working on training to be a runner.  I have all the time in the world now that the boys are 19 and 11 and not one excuse not to do this.

Sore today but it's a rest day thank GOD.  I do have to work a full shift today at the store but I think there won't be as much unpacking of boxes so I'll just take it easy there.  Tomorrow I get to wrap up week 1.

Yeah to all of us!!!!!

Hey Susan - Hang in there.  You're not alone.  I'm gonna be a slow, struggling runner too.  I finished W1D3 today and it was ugly.  (Mostly because I forgot to heed the paygirl's "no chinese" rule - I forgot!  Ugh!  paygirl you are so wise!!!!)  I'm actually afraid of Week 2, but I'm not giving up.  I've got a hike tomorrow with some co-workers who also happen to be working on their own C25K plans.  Normally I'd do W2D1 on Sunday, but I think I'll move that to Monday.  I have a feeling I'm going to be wicked sore on Sunday.

Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

I'm so glad I finally got back on here.  I wasn't able to sign in all weekend.

So, off now to start W2D1 in the morning.  I'm so excited because this doesn't seem so undoable.  My Saturday workout wasn't so bad at all.   I felt good and didn't have any pain at all!!!  YEAH!!  It wasn't a breeze for me but I got through it w/o a huge struggle.

Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

Well I've done W2D1 and I feel so happy. I was a little worried as I have a blister on my heel which I picked up whilst I was at a cross country meeting. I was only spectating but I did keep jogging/walking from one viewing point to the next. Anyhow I strapped it up for my run this morning and it was fine.

Tanya - I am sure you were far more excited about adopting your daughter to go sightseeing in London. I live about about about 200+ miles away from London

I was starting to panic as I couldn't loggin all weekend and it is the thought of reporting back to you guys that is encouraging  me to get up in the morining, so come on everybody lets have a good week

Re: 5K in 9 Weeks Start 11/1

Hi there!  My name is Kim and I am 33 years old and am starting this week the couch to 5K plan.  I want to do a 5K on January 1, 2010.  Today will be my first workout, so will let you know how it goes!

SmileNMich

Wk1D1 of couch to 5K: 1.61 miles, felt great!  It went better than expected!

Wk1D2 C25K  1.75 miles 30.00 minutes.  Legs were sore and I didn't want to do it, but I did and I am so glad!

WK1D3 C25K  1.82 miles, 30 minutes.  Knees were aching, but I did it--feels so great!

WK2D1 C25K 1.82 miles, 30 minutes. OMG--calves were burning, but I finished and didn't quit!

WK2D2 C25K  2.0 miles, 31 minutes.  Felt good--got really tired towards the end, but I didn't quit!

WK2D3 C25K  1.4 miles, 20 minutes.  Cut this work out short as I had played soccer on Friday and got hit pretty hard, pain in my back and legs.

WK3D1 C25K  1.50 miles, 25 minutes.  Easing back into this as I was down with a stomach bug for 2 days and still feeling weak. I did manage the 3                                                        minute runs--oh yeah baby!
