Welcome to the new C25K runners and re-starters: onehotmamma, naughty_cat and anyone else out there reading this. You'll find this is a great place for friendly advice and sharing of "the pain". Just remember, if you start out your program and get side stitches, shin splints and are too tired to finish your workout, you are probably going TOO FAST for your training level. Slow down a bit, and you may find your are comfortable enough to finish the workout without real pain. Listen to your body. Speed will come after endurance. I started at 20 min/mi 3 months ago, and now I'm down to ~16mm.
I had been talking about C25K at my gym, and told the gym owner about it. Now she is starting C25K today, with 4 other ladies from the gym. Plus I got the swim director at my school to start the program too. LOL.
Tried to do speedwork at the gym today, but started feeling it in my shin after a 15mm, so I cut back & took it easy. I'll try again tomorrow. Since the pool & gym are closed on Thanksgiving, I'm going to do my long run (5 mi) while the turkey is cooking. Good luck to everyone with a Turkey Trot on Thursday.
