Here's my list.  Some of it was recently added and might not make the cut.  I usually test it out while I run to make sure it jives.  Some music sounds great at home, but not out on the road.  This is all personal too.  The point is to find what works for you.  When I hit the last mile of my marathon, Wake Up came on.  All of the sudden, the wall disappeared and I ran my fastest mile of the race.  it was great, though my legs might not have agreed the next day.

I should also mention that on Long Run days I actually prefer to use a lighter, soft rock playlist to keep me relexed over the miles. While the songs change all the time, the list is always largly made up of the following artists:

    Counting Crows
    The Fray
    Augustana
    Matt Nathanson
    Gavin DeGraw
    Goo Goo Dolls
    Matchbox Twenty
    Howie Day
    Kelly Clarkson
    Ben Folds
    Ray LaMontagne
    Switchfoot
    U2
    and David Gray

    Re: Running Music Playlists

I have some songs to download after reading these lists.  Thanks for the ideas - it's good to know that others like to rock out.  I started running 8 months ago using "podrunner".  The industrial/club music was not my thing, but the workouts have been great.  So, I calculated the beats per minute on every song in my music library.  I use the podrunner workout but I make my own music mixes that motivate me.  Some of my favorites to run to are:

Wow.  I'm going to have to parse that list when finals are over.  I have a new song "Why Can't I Touch It?" by the Buzzcocks.  Ok, it's not new, but it's great to run to.

    Re: Running Music Playlists

New running music mixes are now set up on the run2rhythm at www.run2r.com website.

They have just released 10km and 5km mixes for various times to complete the run based on their BPM model and related speeds.

The good thing with this music and website is that all the music is in 15 minute blocks or tracks and is quick and easy to download.

    Also terrific to run with.

    Re: Running Music Playlists

Wow!! I really enjoy the BPM rating on the songs!! I'm going to have to try and do that with my own lists. I'm a total traditional jazz enthusiast for everyday music enjoyment but when I'm running there's nothing better for me than the '80s. Here are a couple of running lists I've put together over the last few months....

    List One:

    • Million Miles Away - The Plimsouls
    • Labour of Love - Hue and Cry
    • Strength to Strength - Hue and Cry
    • Communication - Spandau Ballet
    • Shout to the Top - Style Council
    • Wanted - Style Council
    • Whenever You're On My Mind - Marshal Crenshaw
    • Sometime To Return - Soul Asylum
    • Private Idaho - B-52s
    • Walk Out To Winter - Aztec Camera
    • Still On Fire -  Aztec Camera
    • A New England - Kirsty MacColl

    List Two:

    • Summer Sun - Koop  (HIGHLY recommended!!!)
    • Girl I Wanna Dance With You - Walter Wolfman Washington
    • Daddy Love - Solsonics
    • Dream Come True - Brand New Heavies
    • Boombox - The Mosquitos
    • The Scarlet Thing In You - Peter Murphy
    • The Very Thing - Deacon Blue
    • Like An Angel - Duran Duran
    • When All's Well - Everything But the Girl
    • Day By Day - Hooters
    • And We Danced - Hooters
    • It's A Disco Night - Isley Brothers
    • Jewel - Propaganda
    • Ghost Dancing - Simple Minds
    • Oh Jungleland - Simple Minds
    • The Golden Calf - Prefab Sprout

    Jimmy Eat World- Pain

    Puddle of Mudd- Spaceship
