Head band or skull cap

Hello Runners,
Weather is getting cold and I intend to invest in something that would protect my ears.
But I am confused whether I should go for head band or skull cap. Which one is more comfortable?
Weather in Houston during winter is usually in 35F - 55F range.
It depends on what works for you. Head bands don't do a great job of protecting ears. Skull caps are better when the temp drops really low. At a 35 degree low, you should be safe with the headband over the ears. You'll get a lot of different opinions on this stuff, but yours is the only one that counts.

It really is going to depend on what feels better to you. At least both items are pretty cheep. I will say personally I prefer the headband. This is more because I have long hair than anything else. If I tie up my hair than the cap won't cover my ears. If I braid it down my back then it mixes with my sweat and irritates my neck and back. Also I don't like like the hat pushing my headphones into the back of my ear. I just bought a new headband at Target for $1.98 yesterday. So if you try it and don't like it.....at least its not like paying over $100 for shoes and never wearing them.
I'm a headband gall but that's because the ponytail thing. Honestly, I usually lose the headband before the end of the run anyway unless its below 20.
TRUST THE TRAINING!
I just delt with this myself. I'm a heavy sweater and used a standard beanie (toboggan, skullcap..etc), Then i tried a sweat band, not bad, just felt like it was going to drop in my face. I ended up with this--> http://www.pearlizumi.com/product.php?mode=view&pc_id=28&product_id=1455257&outlet=. Works great! Breathable and light weight!
I like it..But, that's just my $.02.
Good luck

I've been asking myself the same question. I have a 5k in february that tracks along the waterfront, which is freezing in new england's winter. After checking out the transfer cap link posted in the scotts post however, i think i might go with that instead.

I am bald and I run in the wintertime. I would buy both. I've had great luck at T.J. Maxx and Dollar General and Kohl's finding tech fabric gear. You can rock the skully when it's not too bad, and just add the headband when it gets too frosty.
I would try both ways and see what works for you. I personally run with a beanie (Nike Dri-Fit) and it keeps my head warm and wicks away sweat. Happy holidays and SAFE running.
Thank you runners for all the answers. It helped me a lot to decide...
You should check out Halo headbands, they have a headband called antifreeze that gets great reviews.
I'm in florida so I used a beanie or Under Armour Hat (it doesn't blow off) ![]()
Yea, under armour has some awesome products!
