i play in a league and when my coach puts me in the game i feel a tad nervous because i dont want to make any mistakes, how can i stop myself from being so cautious, and play with confidence?
Basketball is all about confidence and its normal to feel nervous and anxious. There are a few ways you can channel this nervous energy into a positive outcome on the floor.
For one, you being nervous tells me that you care about the game, your team and winning - that passion right there will turn into hard work in the off-season, and a huge factor to confidence is knowing that you put the necessary time in and now you KNOW you can compete with everyone. This takes a little of the edge off.
Confidence also comes from experience and playing your game. Sometimes when your on the floor being aggressive takes a lot of nervs away. Drive hard to the rim and get fouled, make a great play on defense. This gets you in the flow of things and instantly takes away your nervs.
Dont be scared to make mistakes thats part of the game!

Be positive about what you do before the game such as how your warmup goes and practice. Its those situations and plays which carry over to the game. You will be fine in no time my man
It's about confidence and believing in your self. Every time you go out on the court believe your going to win . Go out and compete at your highest level
Realize that one game is not going to make you or brake you. It's the big picture. Just keep working everyday to get better and the rest will take care of it's self. Always stay confident , even after a bad game.

DOnt try to do to much out there. Let the game come to you. Instead of going one on one, try cutting and moving off ball to get yourself open to score. If your open, your teammates will get you the ball, and it could lead to easy buckets. That might help build some confidence. Play as hard as you can all the time. If you make a mistake dont worry about it and continue to play hard.
