Saturday runs anyone?

Just finished 6m on the incline at 9:50 pace.  Actually a good run.  Hope all you snowbunnies get shovelled out, the sky is blue here, the brown shows through the tiny little bit of snow that's on the ground here.

I believe everyone south of NYC is doing upper-body crosstraining in the form of "digging out."

    Re: Saturday runs anyone?

Snowed in this weekend and it's wonderful.  Just dug out my car so I don't have to do all 30 or so inches tomorrow.  About 24 inches in Nova so far and it's still coming down! Got quite the upper body workout and I'm sure my shoulders/arms/back will be feeling it tomorrow.

Update: FINALLY went to the doctor to check out my breathing and turns out I have asthma! Went and picked up an inhaler yesterday and even shoveling snow for almost an hour was amazing, I could actually take deep breaths! Even though I was breathing hard, I didn't feel out of breath, it was awesome! I can't wait to get on the treadmill later today  or tomorrow morning and see what happens.  Have to schedule an appointment with a Pulmanary Specialist next week to run some additional tests and figure out a long term plan.

I ran a very easy 10, plan was to do 14 but schdule did not allow.  I am running at least 6 with my daughter on Sun may add a few we will see.  Her track season starts in a week so no more running with her for a couple of months (besides Wrightsville Bch 1/2, coach does not know).  WX here in SENC was not that bad about 40 and misting rain a little.   Hope everyone enjoys the snow, might be to much to enjoy?  Have a good day

    Re: Saturday runs anyone?

Set out to run 7 miles at an 8 minute/mile pace and by time I made it home I had the total time on my watch that read 55:57.  I missed my goal by 3 seconds.  Not sure what each mile was but I felt steady throughout the run.  I ran a trail and pavement route with no solid idea of what my pace was.  I nailed it and felt comfortable the entire route.  It was a nice warm humid run that lead to some really good sweating.  I love a good sweat and today I had one.

    Best. snowday.ever.

We were forecast for about 7 inches so I was like a little kid when I woke up to see about 20 inches of the powdery white stuff! My neighbor Ben and I sat in our PJs and played Wii for a bit before hitting the snow for 2 hours. At one point Ben was ahead of me and turned around to see me laying in the snow, giggling. He asked, "What did you do?" rightfully thinking I did something clumsy and the only response I could think of was to say, "I giggled!" Seriously, I was 5 today. In addition to play time I spent 2 hours on the trainer and a half hour doing strengthening exercises. My friend is making a big dinner for a few of us tonight (complete with nutella s'mores!) and later Ben and I are having a snowpocalypse party complete with spiked apple cider and peppermint schnapps hot cocoa LOVE snow days! 2 weeks until my vacation in Utah!

I do today what you won't, so tomorrow I do what you can't.

Run??   Ha, ha, ha.  Three and a half hours of driveway clearing, with some help from a neighbor who just got a new snow blower.  He finished the end, just in time for the plows to come through and fill it up again.   There's no place to run here, except in the plowed, snow covered streets.  But there's just enough traffic to make that unsafe.  Maybe tomorrow.

ohmygod I'm so tired right now.  What Sara said: instead of running 4 per schedule, I cross-trained endlessly by shovelling snow.  But now it's ended.  So maybe endlessly is not the right word.  I lost track of how many times I shovelled it.  I'm leaning back in my chair as I type, and I think I may just go to      sleep    rightt          hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

For once, we in Buffalo get to sit back while others complain about the snow.

Five easy on the 'mill for me. Thirteen miles on the schedule for tomorrow.

    'Night all!

    Ditto, Don.

We had our snow last week.

The snow in central NC was melted by the rain yesterday.

I was planning to run 6 miles this morning.

However, I slept in and only got in 5 before lunch.

I have been on the South Beach Diet for two weeks. We are not allowed to eat carbohydrates for the first two weeks.

No fruit, bread, granola, honey... it has been interesting to say the least.

It seems I hit the wall around 5 miles.

Hopefully, when I start adding carbs back in this week, I can stretch my runs out longer.

Everyone enjoy the snow and stay  warm!!

    Mike

    Re: Saturday runs anyone?

We got a lot less snow than expected, enough to please the dogs and brighten things up, although with more promised in the next few days........After having no electricity and frozen everything for well over a week this time last year, it sure is nice now to be able to run over a few yards on a road without crossing downed power lines or having every trail clogged with downed trees.  The run itself was nothing spectacular but pretty, challenging but not exhausting, cold but not bitterly so, shared mostly with deer, birds in shrubs, and a big hawk. The shovels are still out from last weekend; crosstraining may be Monday.......

No running for us today, but a lot of walking and snorkeling. We got to listen to Whale sounds near by while snorkeling, it was amazing.

We all have or vices!  Not a terribly bad thing all in all.  It beats sitting in traffic idle and not doing much except the commute to and fro!  Headed out for my daily smoke shortly!
