Good job Brandi. I ran last night. Now my left hip joint is giving me a fit.  Hurts with every move. Getting old is for the birds!!! I may have to forego running for a few days until this is rectified.

Re: C25k starting next week 11/16- who's in?

Well, we're all sick in my household, no fun!  It seems to be a sinus infection type deal.  I ran on Tuesday, but haven't done much else this week.  Yesterday I was laid out in bed most of the day.  I am starting to feel a little better today, but I am worried about my scheduled 5k on Saturday.  I think I will probably be feeling mostly better by then, but what about the fact that I haven't gotten in enough running leading up to it?  I am supposed to run today, but I don't think I am well enough to push myself like that.

I hope I can make it Saturday morning and also I hope this sickness doesn't affect the outcome.  I was all excited to try to beat my previous time!

    Amy

Re: C25k starting next week 11/16- who's in?

    Hey guys,

I have finished my C25K, and I have begun searching for a training program that fits my next agenda.  I have tried a couple of them, but they don't seem to be working for me.  For those of you who have moved on to another program, I'd appreciate knowing what they are and where you found them.  Thank you in advance.  January has been a rough month for me. I was down with a sinus infection for 2.5 weeks, and I am finally feeling better.  NYC is supposed to get about 15 inches of snow today, so i think a trip to the gym would be a nice chance to get outside - if the gym is open!  I'm glad to see everyone is doing so well!!!

    happy running!

Brandi! Great job on your runs! You and I are doing the same thing! I am incorporating OHR with the G28K also! I am alternating days on the program and I am loving it so far. This is my second week back running after hurting my back so I am starting both programs over. I did my 30 min OHR last night and got 3 miles in 30 minutes after a 2 week layoff! Tonight I will do W1D1 of the G28K tonight. I did 2 days of the G28K last week, but went slow with them since my back was not at 100%!

I will be watching your progress closely!!!

Re: C25k starting next week 11/16- who's in?

Amy! I am so sorry that you and your family are sick! Sinus infections can really put you down in a hurry! Get well soon!

As I posted to Brandi above, my back is at 99 % now, so I am resuming my training 100% this week! I did Pilates Monday night. Before I injured my back, I was doing the OHR program and incorporating the Jeff Galloway  Gateway to 8K training which I believe will increase my speed and distance. I had completed week 1 of both programs when I hurt my back, so I am starting anew this week with W1 of both programs.

Last night I did a OHR which was 30 min and I ran a little over 3 miles. Tonight I will do W1D1 of the G28K which will be 7 min run intervals with 1 min jog intervals. This will be 4 - 7 min runs with 4 - 1 min jogs with a 5 min warm up and a 5 min cool down. I will be alternating the OHR and the G28K for 4 runs a week!

Sorry that I am so behind on everyone here! Hopefully, I will get caught back up now!

Glad your back is feeling better Mimi!  It must have drifted my way because I pulled mine yesterday!!    I've been running 30 min. 3 days a week since I graduated C25K and today was supposed to be my run day... I'm bummed but I know I should take it easy.  I see your all signed up for races!  That's awesome!  Going to have some tea now~~check in with you all later.

Re: C25k starting next week 11/16- who's in?

Well, I didn't post an update for last week. I finished W2 for GW28K.

Sadly, I will have no runs for this week because I am relocating back to Houston this weekend. I have so much packing to do among other things. Of course, I will jump back into the swing of things next week.

Good job everyone and take care of those injuries.

Re: C25k starting next week 11/16- who's in?

Mimi:  Glad to hear you're back in the swing of things, and that your back is doing better!

Lisa:  So sorry to hear that your back is now hurting you.  Take care of it!

Brandi:  Good luck with your move.  I hope it all goes smoothly for you!

I am doing alright here.  The whole family ended up sick last week.  No fun at all!  I did miss my 5k last weekend, which I was really disappointed about.  I still have a bad cough and some congestion, but I am back to working out, as of this Tues.  I missed a full week of working out, but I am getting right back to it now.  I am hoping to sign up for a 5k on the 20th.  I am just waiting to make sure we are all healed and doing better, so I don't miss another one!

On the plus side, I am doing really well on my WW diet, and lost 2 lbs last week!  Whoo Hoo!

Today is a running day for me.  Hoping to do 35 minutes at a 4.4 on the TM.

    Happy Running!

    Amy

Re: C25k starting next week 11/16- who's in?

Amy! You were smart to cancel the 5K if you were still coughing and congested especially if it is cold where you are!

Hopefully, you will all be well and you can run your 5K next weekend! I have a 5K on the 20th also!!!!

I missed 2 whole weeks of running with my back. I can tell that I lost a little bit of stamina during that time, but I am back to running regularly and I am getting back up to snuff very quickly!

Congrats on the weight loss!!! It seems that I have been losing and gaining the same 2-3 lbs ever since I started running. My clothes fit looser and I can wear a size smaller jeans, but I am still not losing scale weight!

I did my 3rd workout of the G28K last night which consist of 4 - 7 min run intervals interspersed with 4 - 1 min recovery jogs and a 5 min warm up and a 5 min cool down. I ran the intervals at 5.5 mph and had a total mileage of a 4 miles in 42 min counting the warm up and cool down. I will do Pilates tonight and take a break from running since I have run 2 days in a row. I will try not to run more than 2 days in a row without a rest day as I think running mutiple days in a row is how I hurt my back!

How's everyone doing??  My back is better after a week and I ran on Monday for 30 minutes---it felt awesome!    Yesterday I hiked in the snow and... today I'm sick!  So there you go.  I can't really complain, I've been healthy all winter till now so that's pretty good.  Hope everyone is on track and healthy.  Happy Wednesday!

Re: C25k starting next week 11/16- who's in?

Glad to hear you're feeling better Lisa.

As for me, I finally made it back home to Houston! It took about 17 hours of driving to get here. Luckily the first leg of the trip was made on Sunday to Atlanta but the big portion was started and completed yesterday. Yesterday, I drove for 12 hours with a 6 month old! But overall, my baby did very well, which made me feel a lot better once I arrived.

It has been about about 10 or 11 days since my last run. I'm hoping to finish settling down by Friday and joining my old gym. I miss the running and I am so tense. I'm sure it will make me feel relaxed. I hope everyone's running is going well. Take care and see you all at the finishline......AGAIN!

Re: C25k starting next week 11/16- who's in?

    Hello Fellow Runners!

I hope everyone is doing great and still out there poundin' the pavement!

I am doing great!  I ran my 2nd 5k this Saturday and did much better than I was expecting.  I finished in 36:44!  It was a huge improvement from my 5k a month ago at 42:59....shaved over 6 minutes off my last time!  I was so proud!  ;-)  It was such a nice weekend too.  Weather was about 50-60 degrees during the run and the sky was beautiful and sunny!  Couldn't have asked for a better outcome!  My hubby even showed up with my 2 kiddos to watch me finish!

I am still running 3 times a week and sticking with it.  I have also added in a little strength training.  I am planning to make a trip to the book store this week to find a good book on weight training.  I feel a little lost in the gym and want to make the most of my time there.  Anyone have any book recommendations?

I hope to hear from some of you....I hope our board isn't dying out....come out, come out wherever you are!!!

    Amy

Congrats on your 2nd 5k Amy!

Well, I finally got back into the swing of things this morning and restarted my GW28K Program. It was a little difficult (especially since I didn't run for 2 weeks) but I made it through.

I hope everyone is doing well. Take care.

AMY!!! You are rockin' it with your time!  Congratulations!  Brandi-glad you're all settled and geared up to get back in swing!  I've been hit with health issues the last 2 weeks.  First was my back--took a week--then I ran.  The following day sick, sick, sick!  Took a week.  Now I'm healthy and back at it this week.  Monday's run was hard but Wednesday's was easy.  My speed has picked up as well.  Today was an 50 minute hike in the snow with the dog... believe me that's exercise too!  Hope you all keep checking in!  Talk soon....
