Bike for tall clydesdale

Me: 7', 290 lbs., fit, currently have a Giant Iguana mtn. bike. Would like to get a durable road/touring/? bike for longer rides as I don't need the knobby tires anymore since I'm almost always on asphalt/concrete. I have posted in the Triathlon section to get a feel for some equipment considerations (five sprint triathlons in my past, maybe more to come). Any info/insight/recommendations for bikes appreciated.

I wish I could help you out. I have a friend that is an ex-NFL player, @6'10" and 295#. He had a career ending knee injury and would love to get into cycling, but wants to try it out first. Not easy to do for his size. There are not a lot of "sample" bikes out there to jump on to see if they are a fit. If anyone know how to help these gus out, let us all know. Good luck
