Re: Half/Full Marathon Time Study - Effect of Mileage on Ratio
Interesting stuff.

4/1/07 - 1:28:18 Half
4/29/07 - 3:11:59 Full
65 mpw average prior to both

My time was about 6 minutes slower than McMillan predicted. I think part of the problem is that I'm still learning how to race the marathon as this was only my second one.

I usually figure - Double the half and add 4 minutes, but I beat that prediction pretty soundly.

Re: Half/Full Marathon Time Study - Effect of Mileage on Ratio
double and add 4 is very agressive. none of the other replies have got close to that I doubt, so your half either needs working on or you're a born marathoner!

Or he needs to work on his lower end speed. I agree, double plus four has never happened in my world, more like double plus 10-13.

But if I remember correctly, you don't taper for the 1/2 correct? If not, it's not like you're going in particularly fresh...am I remembering correctly?

Re: Half/Full Marathon Time Study - Effect of Mileage on Ratio
Obsessor - looks like double + 4

Yes ... I suck at the 1/2 marathon

I believe my 10k is a better predictor
8/04 10k 38:21 10/04 Marathon 2:56:10
8/05 10k 36:45 10/05 Marathon 2:49:19
8/06 10k 35:46 9/06 Marathon 2:45:58

BTW - I suck at 5ks also

Re: Half/Full Marathon Time Study - Effect of Mileage on Ratio
Marathon = 2 week taper - I usually taper 1 day for other races - Except 5ks - No taper.

This year I tapered 2 days for a 1/2 marathon (4-7) and ran a 1:21:45 - I am hopeful x 2 = 2:43:30 + 4:00 = 2:47:30 to be around that time for Grandmas.
