I entered and completed my first 5k this morning. Although I was not burning up the pavement my goal was to finish with out stopping and to enjoy the run. I did both of the above, ran with a friend and we were both shocked that we weren't the last ones on the course:). Actually there were quite a few people that finished after us so that made us feel quite a bit better for our first race. One down and now looking for what will beour next race this year getting ready for my sprint tri in June. (I am in the blue)
Murray, Congrats!!! Sounds like you had a great time & did a great job!! My 1st 5K should be 4/25/10. Thanks for posting!! Keep up the good work !! TJ

Congrats Murray on your first 5k finish, you should be proud!!! I thought of you yesterday during my long run.... I wasnt sure when the race was.........
I knew you wouldnt bne last........
It's not only about finishing, its about finishing healthy!
Congratulations on your first 5k! The point is to finish, and I am very glad to hear that you weren't last. Even if you were, who would care? The point is to finish what you started, to go out there and to do it!!
Burning up the pavement comes in time... keep going.... may this race be the first of a lifetime journey of running... training... and setting new and higher goals for yourself like your tri for example.
I am cheering for you!
congrats!!!! you should be super proud of yourself!!

Great job!! I'm sure that this will be the first of many. Good luck in your Sprint Tri! I will be running my first Sprint Tri in April, but I'm a little nervous about the swimming portion. I can swim, but it's not pretty.
Congrats!! I'm so glad that you hit your goal!
Keep at it!
Hearing this makes me push myself more for my 1st

Congrats on your first 5K! Wasn't it awesome?!
I ran my first ever 5K on Sunday March 21 so 1 day after you. I loved it!
I didn't run the entire way but I felt good just getting out there and doing it. It felt great to know that my average of 14.38 minute miles held up even on a hilly, unpaved strange course with lots of other people. I didn't come in last, which totally surprised me.
I walked another 5K about an hour later when I went down the hill to meet up with my daughter who was running her first ever event (1/2 mile) and was doing it injured. We decided to run in with her. Her friend had the energy even after running a 1/2 marathon but old mom walked back all UPHILL! LOL
Hang in there and enjoy the ride. I know I'm hooked and am now hoping to continue my training as I only made it to week 6 day 2 before my event. Disney 1/2 Marathon September 2010 here we come!
