Re: Fall Marathon Trainers Thread - Who's In?
I'm sure I'll be in. I'm planning on NYC on 11/4. My "marathon training" won't really start until late July, but until then, I'm working on speed, to help facilitate my marathon time coming down. Goal will be sub-2:28.

NYC for me as well -- so I'm not starting to focus on the marathon quite yet. Trying to rebuild my base, work on core strength, and get a little faster.

Re: Fall Marathon Trainers Thread - Who's In?
I guess I could try and remember to check in at some point during the week. Steamtown, October 7th. Current goal is a BQ, 3:45, but that could change. I was dangerously close to that at my last marathon. This would be why it might change, for the better. I guess we will see how my training goes.

Re: Fall Marathon Trainers Thread - Who's In?
I feel like I just finished my spring marathon. I guess I need to look at the calendar but this seems early. My marathon was country music marathon and it was my first. My goal was 3:10 and I got 3:17.

Goes and looks at Marathon Guide
returns 3 hours later

Looks like its gonna be the Newport marathon on 10/20.

looks at calendar

Ok, as I thought. My formal training wont start until mid July. Until then I will be ratcheting down my 5k and 1 mile times while keeping up pretty decent mileage.

Catch up with you all sometime in july. Gosh I am not looking forward to doing my long runs in the Nashville heat (where I am living this summer). 10 miles just about kills me out here.

Re: Fall Marathon Trainers Thread - Who's In?
Well I bailed-out of the Spring thread after getting an injury (while cross-training on my bike!) that I've just worked back from. I'll try to stick with the program this time and stay involved in the thread as well!

I'm doing the Cape Cod Marathon on October 28th. I'm going to train for 2:50 although that 6:30 pace is very intimidating. I'd like to get anything under 2:55 so that I would have a gtd entry to NY. I'll be satisfied with anything under 3:00 to confirm that Philly wasn't a fluke.

I used Pfitz's 18/70 for Philly and will be using the 18/over 70 this time but will modify it up by about 10 mpw since I'm already running 60 - 70 mpw while building base for the training period which starts in 3 weeks.

Re: Fall Marathon Trainers Thread - Who's In?
These threads are great. Its nice to find a few people who have the same goals in mind and have access to their training. Almost like a pacer in the actual race.

I plan to run Grand Rapids (MI) on 10/28. Last year I ran Detroit with a 4 hour goal. I missed it by six minutes on a VERY windy day. I thought I had a good base, but I think it was actually my downfall.

This year's goal is 3:40-3:45. I recently ran a 25k that computes out to a 3:42 marathon (McMillan). Training will include a ton of base with some speed work the last 8-10 weeks of training.
