I have run many 1/2 marathon and I really enjoyed this one. The course was marked well with time and miles. Their was plenty of water, etc. Trying to get the t-shirt at the end was the only problem. Good Job to all involved. Thanks.....
Great day - thanks to everyone who helped make it happen and a big thumbs up the B'ham PD!
I ran my first half there last year and it meant so much to see the kids on the runners
t-shirts that I choice it for my first marathon this year. I ran for a friend's son and had the most amazing race. Thank you for all the time, effort, and energy put into it.
This was only my second marathon, but I am hooked. This was a very enjoyable race. You could tell that Birmingham and Mercedes had their hearts in this effort. I thought that the course was a challenge, but fair. The human spirit was great!
We had four five-person relay teams! Everything went well. However, we were only given three finishers shirts per team without any information about how to obtain the additional shirts. If you run out at least let us know and given us the name of someone to contact!
This was my first full marathon. I trained with seasoned marathoners and they prepared me for the physical and the mental aspects of finishing the run. The experience was amazing. The course was extremely challenging, but the volunteer support was wonderful. At ever corner and every turn there were people there cheering and encouraging. I will be back, I will be better next time around.
Thanks for the great experience.
I particapated in the KBR 5K and the Mercedes Half-Marathon. The KBR 5K as a team captain and the Half-Marathon as a first-timer. BOTH WERE AWESOME! The organization and teamwork evident in the B'ham Track Club and Trak Shak were totally rocking. I cannot wait till next year now that I know what to do to run a 1/2! Viva la Mercedes Marathon Weekend!
This was a much better race than I expected. I'm not a fan of doing anything more than once, so the double loop course had me worried. But somehow you tricked me and I was at mile 16 before I realized it. A big thanks to the great four-hour pacers! Thanks mostly to them plus the great weather and flat course, I ran my first sub-four-hour time. Loved the big Mercedes finisher's bling medal, and the finishing chute and cheering crowd made me feel like a champ.
I ran the full and my husband ran the half. We both finished with our personal best times. This was our second Mercedes event together.
I did not like the double loop course for the marathon. It was too boring and too predictable and you knew exactly how much farther you had to go. Every mile you passed it seemed to just drag on with minimal excitement. It didn't seem as challenging because you just to the same thing twice as compared to the old course.
Organization was fabulous and the people were great. Expo was fantastic, food and entertainment were top notch. Course aid stations were well-manned and supplied. We will do it again no doubt!
Compared to other events we've participated in this one is well above average!!
My first half marathon and it went great! I'm from Bham so it was cool to run around the city. But i will say if I plan to do a full, I'm going to do it in another city where you don't just loop the same route twice. Other than that, the half at mercedes bham is great!
