St. Jude Marathon (1 Dec 2007) Goal Time: set a new PR (currently 2:49) set way back in 2000, but honestly I'd like to go a lot faster than that and will be quite disappointed if I don't
I have been posting my daily training in Comp. Wire and will probably continue to do so, but I will post the highlights (races and/or key workouts and total mileage) here as well

5-K race 17:36 5th overall

58 Miles total

Some good mileage totals posted there, especially this early in the cycle (assuming Fall Marathon). Decent week for me. Foot still a little bothersome. Seeing an Active Release Technique (ART) practitioner today. Hopefully I respond well to treatment. Maybe identify some biomechanical issues. Looking forward to starting my formal marathon training (Benji Durden) plan on Sunday July 1. In the meantime, I have been just slowly building my mileage while introducing a bit of turnover work.

Mon - Rest
Tue - 4 // 8 (6 x 200M @ 3K pace)
Wed - 4
Thr - 4 // 8 (4 x 400M @ 5K pace) Hot outside. HR got up higher than normal.
Fri - 5
Sat - 17 Enjoyable run. Going to try and start running more of my long runs over rolling terrain.
Sun - 4 + weights + yoga.

Tot - 54

My flexibility sux. Probably has something to do with my nagging aches and pains. May try to get in 2 classes per week to see if there is some overall improvement.

Going to reduce volume a bit this week. Low 40's target.

Week 2 of Pfitzinger 18/55 for (probably) Portland, with additional long-run miles.

M - rest
Tu - 8 w/ strides + hills (~8:05)
We - rest
Th - 10 (~8:00)
F - rest
Sa - 5 recovery + hills
Su - 21.5 (~8:30)

Total: 44.5

Sunday's long run was one of my worst runs in quite a while. I'm not quite sure why. I was tired at 13, and stretching/walking off calf cramps at 17. A fair amount of walking the last 4.5 miles. Maybe I'm adding distance back too fast... last week was 17 (which was easy), the week before was 13, and nothing longer for the past month and a half. But I did two marathons in April, the last on the 28th, so I wouldn't have thought 21.5 would be that hard. But I haven't had this bad a long run since training for my first marathon, I think, three years ago.

Probably I went into it dehydrated and under-carbed, and it was very humid. (At 6 miles I thought about turning back for fear of lightning! But then it mostly cleared up.) 30 oz. of Gatorade in my fuel belt wasn't enough to make up for that, I guess.

Anyway, I got in 10+ miles in two different states (NH and VT) in one run, which is pretty cool!

Hey guys, can I play? Here's me:

Been running for about 18 months. Averaging 35+ for about 6 weeks, longest long run to date of 16 miles and am training for my first marathon in Akron on September 29th.

Don't have a specific goal yet as far as time goes. I'd sure like break 4 hours, but Akron is not a fast and flat. I've got a half at the end of next month and I'll set a time goal based on my preformance then. This will be my 3rd half (PR 2:10:XX) and I am shooting for a sub 2hr (reasonable goal) or sub 1:58 (if everything goes uber smoothly goal).

Hey all!! It's nice to see all this good running. I hope everyone's training is going as good as mine.

My week-

Monday-9 miles hilly fartlek including hill drills(bounds etc..)+ PM weights and core
Tuesday-5 miles jogging
Wed-10 miles aerobic
Thursday-weights and core
Friday-5 miles jogging
Saturday-17 miles progression over rolling hills + PM core workout
Sunday- Off

46 total. Nothing major going on with my week. Saturday kicked my butt. Started off at a jog effort and finished up the last 7 miles at marathon effort. I was working 2'nd shift this week and I got a taste of what you afternoon runners go through. Back to early mornings...thank god.

My current week is rockin as I'm on vacation at the beach. Full nights rest, flat ground, and loads of choaco taco's for recovery yeilds great running!!

Good running yall!!
