Yao is too injury prone. Don't forget at one point Shaq was the most dominant center in the league, Yao has never even been close to that. And even though Yao is younger he's still facing a career ending injury. Most people that are that tall dont have very long lifespans, kind've like Andre the Giant.
Shaq not only has destroyed multiple backboards, but is/was one of the most entertaining players in the league.
Shaq > Yao.
I would take Yao Ming all day over Shaquille O'Neal. He hurt the Suns so bad last year that we didn't even make the playoffs. This year, we drop him, add Channing Frye, and now we are a dominant force in the West. How does that happen? It might be because he doesn't fit into the Suns basketball system, but still. Come on. Yao is more versatile, of course that's when he is not injured. Yao Ming is taller, more of a scorer, and can rebound just as good as O'Neal can. Yao could easily beat O'Neal one-on-one.
they are both dominant. but i would take shaq. hes a major presence. last year, the cavs lost to the magic in the eastern finals. but know that they have shaq, they look unstoppable. but dont get me wrong. yao is good, but shaq is better
Shaq, its not even close. yao ming has barely had a couple of 20 and 10 seasons, vs shaq who has cleared 20 and 10 by a large margin for years until his body becan to decline shortly before he was shipped out of miami. i dont know where you get this shaq is getting fat thing from, but he was never fat. he was heavily muscled throughout his career, and in his later years, has done nothing but LOST weight. he lost about 30 when he went to miami, and about 25 since his recent injury.shaq was and is physically dominant and someone who is and should be feared in the paint. yao ming on the other hand is known to be weak, and is a target by highflyers looking to make a poster (ask anyone even nate robinson)
