Broke My Big Toe

Snapped my big toe 2 weeks ago at a karate tournament.  It looked dislocated so I asked a friend to pull on it after telling her that I didn't know what would happen.  Kinda "crinkled" into place and, like a good Marine, went back out and scored the winning point in the finals.  My wife then beat the crap out of me.

I then found out the next day that you can actually throw up from pain.  Then, on Monday, the dreaded x-ray showed a big honker of a jagged crack.  It was good training.

I finally don't need the walking shoe thing, but the training is taking a hit.  I guess I'll be OK by starting "The Program" on May 31st.  I wonder if 3:30 is now out of the question or maybe a possibility.  It's still pretty swollen and really tender, but I can still shoot (which is what really counts).

Hope to see you on Halloween.  I'll be masquerading as a runner.

That stinks!  Good luck with the recovery!  I think you'll have a chance at 3:30, you have 5 months to get there.  Good luck, just make sure your toe is all the way better.

Amazing how much a big toe can hurt, I agree you still have a shot at 3:30.

    Cory,

Talk to your Doctor about the possibility of pool running using an aqua jogger during your down time.  A good friend of mine used pool running while he was down for a stress fracture.  He came back almost to the point where he was before his injury.  Good Luck!
