I ended up warming up over the first mile at 8:30/mi with my HR at ~ 60%, then I told myself based on where I believe my fitness was to run the next 4 at MP and not go over ~ 75% of max (172 bpm). I did not watch my clock..but rather my HR.
I ended up running the final 4 at 75% of max, but ran a 6:47 pace. Indeed...I was encouraged as going out an running 7:15 feels very comfortable. This confirms that my MP test run with 11+ miles at 6:55/mi during a 15 miler over a week ago was not just a fluke.
Again... this is my first time hitting 40mpw in a training program...and I have been over 40mpw 5 weeks in a row. I think the higher mileage is doing wonders for my perceived effort and how that translates into my actual pace!
Awesome!
