Frederick?

Is anyone running Frederick this weekend?   I will be up there Saturday morning and am search of a pasta joint for dinner.

Good luck in both of your endeavours, the pasta joint and the race.  What are you doing, full or half?

I'll be running the Full, Mike!

    \

Looks like I'll be at the expo Saturday afternoon (after Comcast visits our house).  Call me if you're around or if you've got any questions (I've run most of the course and know it well). 301 305-3787.

As for Italian, there's a fairly new place right in downtown on the south end of Market Street -- just south of the canal.  But I forget it's name.  Then there's a Macaroni Grill just off of rte 85 just southwest of I-270.  And there's an Olive Garden near Francis Scott Key Mall.  I need to be home Saturday evening as my son is entertaining  a couple of his buddies.

After the race, you'll be able to find me at the Steeplechaser tent that should be on the infield at the fairgrounds. Ask someone there - they mostly know me.  (last name Robisch)

Good luck and hope to see you there, Mike!

Oh, and EVERYONE CHECK THIS OUT!!!

Ron - very cool!  Good for Raeann to gut it out and how wonderful her mates were there to help her with her achievement.  Great story.

Mike and Ron - run like the wind at Frederick!

That would make for a fast time!  I think the wind's supposed to be around 10mph!

Think about the satisfaction, you get the whole bit instead of the half bit.

    Re: Frederick?

Mike - if you weren't aware of it, the 2nd 1/2 is the hilly half.  Roughly miles 16 through 22 will be tough.  The last few are nice and flat at least!

For anyone who's friended me on facebook, my split times SHOULD show up as my status during the race.  Hopefully that will work better than text messages during races have worked in the past!

I'm running the Half.  Good luck to all!!! I just love technology.  TweetMyTime will tweet and post on facebook the runner's split times.  I believe its still beta, but for sure, most race organizers will be considering the technology soon!

    Re: Frederick?

Hey Ron - thank you for introducing yourself.  Nice to meet you.  How did you do?  For me, it was my worst Half Marathon ever.  My goal was to beat my PR of 1:58:48 but end up with 2:06.09.  I knew the course was flat and I was confident I could PR.  I was blaming other issues I had before/during the race but realized it later after witnessing few people being taken cared of by medical teams and talking to few runners that it was the heat/humidity.  I knew it was 75 degrees but didn't realize the humidity was 90%+.  It's my first race with heat/humidity so I learned a lot from here. Not a day to PR and not hydrated as I thought. I hope to redeem myself at the Marine Corps Half Marathon in 2 weeks.

How did everyone else do?  I really felt bad for the full runners as they not only go another 13.1 miles but it was a hilly course from then on and the sun started to come out when I finished.
