How do you log your miles?

I have my marathon training schedule on an excel spreadsheet and I track all my miles, HR, etc. in an online running log. Unfortunately, the log is not really being maintained and is often offline lately. Now there is a message that there is no disk space. I hightly doubt the individual who started it will buy more space. So I am completely bummed out!

I am looking for a way to track it myself (i.e. not another online log), but also be able to add in key comments re how I was feeling, injuries, HR, weather conditions, etc. so I can track my progress. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!!

Re: How do you log your miles?
if you change your mind about an online log, this site (coolrunning) has an excellent online running log. I've been recording all those things you listed for about a year and a half now with absolutely no problems. They have separate places to log those things for each day. You should check it out. Go to "resources" at the top of the page and then to running log.

Active.com is not going to eliminate the running log, and further,
you can download the log every day to an excel spreadsheet
if you so choose.

I've made my own logs in Excel for years. You can do just about anything with Excel. Here's a screenshot of the sheet where I log miles. The workbook is made of several worksheets that have various calculators, race results, etc.

I use a paper log. I guess I'm old fashioned that way.

Re: How do you log your miles?
I use an excel spread sheet on my home computer. These records cover everyday back to 1994 but they are simpler than Jim's (e.g., only terse notes of injury/vacation). Still, it is fun to graph the changes in various parameters over the years.

Jim, I think you've just inspired me. I haven't been keeping a log but I've really been wanting to start for a while now. I've just been unsure of a good medium to do it. Do I use Paper/Word/Webpage...which one am I going to have access to and it'll be easy enough for me to use on days when I don't have a lot of time... Yours is really nice. I do a lot of programming and I've been playing with my garmin data a little because I've got the last 2 1/2 years of data on it and I've been trying to decide what to do with it, but parsing it and dropping into something like that spreadsheet maybe with a few graphs wouldn't be that hard to whip up. Thanks for the fun new project!

Re: How do you log your miles?
I am a programmer also. I created a Microsoft Access 2000 database. It is cool to have the flexibility to create reports and graphs. I got a Garmin gps six weeks ago, and have been using SportsTrack. I plan to import the data into my Access database.
