there are some free generic plans available at trinewbies.com, beginnertriathlete.com, trifuel.com, slowtwitch.com and I think halhigdon.com. I also believe there plans available here at active.com check them out and see which one looks like it will work for you. goodluck and have fun!
goals for 2011:
break 19minutes for 5k
break 2:42 for olympic triathlon probably Anthracite olympic
break 3:16 for marathon ( a long shot but it's fun putting yourself out there)
Hi there MoeDeCloe,
Cool that you're training for a Sprint this summer. I grew up in Minnesota & spent many years driving up to the cities to play soccer.
There are some free plans like Joe suggested - definitely look around. While many plans have at least one complicated element, it doesn't have to be. You can train for a tri of any distance while keeping things simpler & balancing family & work etc.
Are you looking for more info/technique/workout sessions on any one segment, or mainly looking how to put the swim-bike-run together?
I enjoyed tri coach & blogger Elizabeth Waterstraat's post on putting together a year. While it's bigger scale - it's a good & easy read. http://elizabethfedofsky.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2009-12-17T00%3A02%3A00-06%3A00
I think the main thing is to do it. Get a doctor's ok if you have risk factors & then start. There's a ton of great info within this forum & the expert articles. As you add workouts & run into new issues or questions, I hope you'll check back here.
Have a great weekend,
Sara Cox Landolt
