What GPS systems?

What GPS system do you recommend for running?

Checkout Garmin and Polar watches.  Garmin's are known for their superb GPS capabilities.  Polar's also have great GPS watches, but are known for the heart rate monitor capabilities.  Check out the running forums here on Active.com.  A lot of great advice on both brands.

I am considering the The Garmin 205 which has great reviews, on amazon  you can pick them up for $120...it is the older model, but from what I  hear one of the better ones in their lineup.

A footpod is a nice supplement to a GPS watch, although not necessary.  The GPS obviously does everything a footpod does.  However, some prefer to have it as a supplement just in case the GPS is not receiving a signal (which is common with older models and where the signal is susceptible to loss (i.e., under heavy trees, in an urban environment with tall buildings, and thick cloud cover)).  It's also common with anal-retentive types like me who compare information from both the GPS and footpod to ensure that both are working fine; usually, the information won't be identical, but close enough that you know it's working.  The 305 works great and is good value.

I guess I will say Garmin too. Not only for the GPS system. I find their running watches amazing.

I would absolutly go with all the others and say garmin.
Go with anything from the Forerunner serie, and if you want to spoil yourself, the 405 is my choice !
Try as well to look for a Footlocker Coupon, maybe you can find more valueable details.
    Good Luck!
