Unfortunately, yes. With the amount of races I do a year all out of state travel needs to involve a 26.2.   Nashville was the exception, but only because I had paid for 26.2 and I ran the half with a full bib. So in my mind it was okay. LOL

You can always finish then run back to the start line to satisfy your 26.2 requirement.

Hmmmm. Would they give me two medals??  I'm pretty sure as slow as I am, that they would close the course on me. LOL.  But nice thought Karen.

Ok Jen, how old is your princess.  My grand princess is going to be three this weekend and we're in NYC till Monday.  She's registered for the 100 yard dash for 2-3year olds.  I can't wait.  This should be a loads and loads of fun.  And Holly, you could run 2 halves and get 2 medals and meet up with all the rest of us royalty.  We're going to have a blast and you'd just be the icing on the tiara.

My princess will turn 6 on March 2.  We are going to surprise her for her birthday with this trip.  She is registered for the 200 yard dash.  We also signed up for the Pirate and Princess party.  Did you notice that they asked us who our favorite princess was when we registered?  Why do you think that is?  This will be a total blast and I am looking forward to meeting all of my fellow running princesses from the board!

That's great, CurlyJ, that's a pretty awesome 6th year birthday surprise. I'd have a hard time keeping it a secret!

    Re: Disney Princess Half Marathon

I know this thread is a bit older, but was wondering if anyone is still on that could talk about their experiences with this run. I am thinking about signing up for the 2011 race. It would be my second half marathon and I would be flying all the way across the US to get to it. The fee is only $120 if you sign up before August 8th, 2010.

    So what were your experiences?

Was the 16 min mile doable with all the appeals to stop for pictures with the characters?

How much entertainment was along the way?

They say you do not need to purchase a ticket, but  really- should you? Same for Expo Day?

Has anyone done it twice? How was it the second time?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Re: Disney Princess Half Marathon

It's a fun race, well organized, lots of Disney characters, ok crowd support and I really liked it.  I'll do it again in 2012 all things being equal in life.  I think 16 min mile is very doable with all the picture ops and I took a lot of them.  I took my granddaughter and she ran the kid race for the 2 to 4 year olds.  I'll take my other little unit the year after next.  The expo was fun, I can definitely recommend it.  We flew in from VT.  I'd say go for it.  The mileage signs are great, btw.

I completely agree with Omi. This is a race done with Disney grandeur. I am planning to run the race again too! I traveled from Pennsylvania and our family made a vacation out of it. Really, really fun!
