7/14 Runs/Workouts

I did a 5 mile tempo run this morning. It was humid and soupy, but I didn't mind. I've had a streak of runs lately that haven't felt so great. I'm hoping the streak breaks soon because I have a 1/2 marathon this weekend. I've got one more workout this week and then I'll start pulling back so that I'll be rested for the race. The crappy runs are messing with my head a little

Have a great day everyone!

I will run for cupcakes!!

They're just a sign that you'll have a great half!

It is hard to have good runs in the heat and humidity.  I am having the same issue.  Two weeks ago it was cooler and the humidity was way down and I had a great run, but other than that it has been tuff.   Good luck with the 1/2 could be the race you need.

I know the feeling; week 7 of Hal's marathon training. Had a great run in some moderate humidity yesterday. Went out at 4:50 this morning, for my 7 miler. completed the darn thing at a pace nearly 1.5 mpm slower than yesterday. 77 degrees with 95% humidity did not seem to agree with my body. Looking forward to a short one tomorrow, before my 14 miler this weekend (hopefully cooler and drier!).

Enjoy your runs today (I didn't)!

    Re: 7/14 Runs/Workouts

Despite the downpour, I'd really like to go out and redeem myself from my crappy run Sunday (although given that it's the first crappy run I've had in over a month, I was probably due) but I'm still recovering from oral surgery Monday. Hey, I'm out of bed today and have restored feeling in almost all of my face, so that's a start. I do, on the other hand, have a mouthful of stitches. So, no four miles for me today. Boo. I might go for a walk later, though. Increasingly, the biggest problem is it's so damn hard to eat.

I am somehow thinking that this weekend's long run will not be nine miles.

Sometimes those long runs after a layoff are the best.

LOL, true, but I haven't run nine miles in a year, so I'm just gonna see how the first three are and then decide.

Becky, that has absolutely nothing to do with your legs!

I'm going down for 5 miles.  Volunteered this morning.  I hate afternoon runs.

You are right as always Charlotte, but that is why I arranged my cross training day (pushups and situps for me lately) around my range day.  I hate afternoon runs at this time of the year!  Joe just got in and is he sweatin' buckets!  I think planning is 80% of this thing!

I did run today, an easy 5 miles.  And the rain stayed away.

Just finished 5 very sweaty miles, it's even hot and humid in the basement.  But, funny enough, I had a really good run.  9:30 pace.  I'm a happy girl.

    Re: 7/14 Runs/Workouts

Spinning was full tonight so I had to switch up the cross trianing (why can't I be one of those people who's always really early??)

Swam 1800 meters in a choppy, crowded pool. The pool is normally a ghost town and cycling is never full in the summer so I dont know why everything I wanted to do was suddenly so popular tonight. Hope this trend doesn't last.

Jen, good luck on the half! Hope the race breaks the streak!
