The 5K I ran doesn't have a site cause it was a REALLY small race. for cryin out loud WHY CANT YOU BELIEVE ME??????<HR>

Could explain why your 5K time is better than your 1600. Twenty bucks says the course was short (as local races tend to be). If I went from my fastest time in a local race, my 5K PR would be a solid 16:29 instead of a lackluster 17:36...

(on the other hand, your 800 looks a little too fast)

But you have to realize that by posting times that some of us can only dream of running, and asking if they are "slow", you will hurt a lot of people's feelings. And to many, it seems as though you're doing it intentionally. "Fast" and "slow", "good" and "bad" are all relative in this sport. I am so proud of my 17:36, because I worked my tail off to get there.

If those are your actual times, you have unbelievable god-given talent (the best junior high runners don't work at it much harder than others). But having that sort of talent should humble you. After all, it was given to you, so it's your responsibility to work hard.

Re: Are my times slow?
Yeah, I need proof, that's all I can say, cause for anyone in high school those would be real quick, so I'm sorry to say I think you are lying... Who runs those and posts am I slow? Not to be mean, just letting you know my input... Peace.

Re: Are my times slow?
FastRunner, if you are so good, why don't you try to run at the larger meets? Although some people don't prefer big competition, it seems a bit of a waste to just run locally when, assumming your not making this up, you have talent. I'm suprised your Coach hasn't said something to you- if he knows running he should know that those are good times? :/

Does anyone smell a fishy scent around here, or it is just me. It could be my dinner, but its mixing with this thread. ; )

Re: Are my times slow?
Pretty good. Keep on training and you'll do really good. I'll look forward to seeing you in the 2012 Olypmics, or possibly the 2008 Olympics.

Lots of you are overfrustrated, either jealous, or your paying to much attention to this.

If he IS telling the truth, they'll we will find out soon, and if he's lying, he's just cheating himself.

I mean, those times are good, but nothing abnormal.

I'm 15, I've been running for a year.
200m: 22
400m: 50
800m: 2:02
1600m: 5:27
3200m: No idea
5K: Around 19 minutes, I believe
I could burn this kids *** in short distance, but if he's telling the truth, he can beat me in the mile and up.
Calm down people.

Re: Are my times slow?
I have a hard time believing this, when you consider that elites like Chis Solinsky and Galen Rupp only (as if it's slow) went 16:40 their freshman year, which is a year or so ahead of you. I know some people develop their speed and strength earlier than others, but the only way I'd believe a 16:10 that young would be on an illegitimate course.

Even if it was a short course, you're still **** fast, but as others have said, don't slack because you're talented; train hard and use your talent, and you might achieve some great things.

Re: Are my times slow?
I would have found those times hard to believe. Check out the 12 and under age group for this 4 mile run. The second mile is almost entirely uphill.

Re: Are my times slow?
I did some research trying to find any inof on this "kid" the hope house 5k is real, no info on the race though, but the race was started by some girl when she was 14. So whatever that means...
