I am running a marathon in October and had been training for one 2 weeks ealier than I am now registered for. (so 2 weeks ahead of schedule) I am doing Hal Higdons Novice 2 training and have long runs of 17mi, 18mi,13,19,12,20,12,8,2 Although we will be out of town for the next 2 weekends so I would like to tweak my schedule so that the I don't do the 17 miler this weekend, how can I do this without completely messing up my training? Any experience/suggestions welcome!
Either that or you could do 10 or 12 the next two weekends, then pick up with the 17. Or go 10, 17, 10, 18 . . . etc. I know we always say to follow the plan, but sometimes you have to be flexible and wing it. And it's OK to go 3, or sometimes even 4 weeks between long runs.
