    Hey NewBalance45,
Yeah, Raymond is the next town up ..About 5 miles up the road. Raymond sends its high schoolers to Windham. Some of the Raymond kids run for the Windham USATF team.
Lots of lakes and lots of camps. this is the "Lakes Region".

I live in Red Bluff Cali.......aka Dead Bluff.  It's not the best place to run......in the summer it is like over 100 at least 70% of the time... it even gets to be about 118.  You have to wake up at like 5:00am so you can run before it gets too hot.  To top all that off my town is full of hicks who think it is cool to throw stuff at you when you are running down the street.  I can't wait to move to a better town.

Yes, unfortunately there are still towns like that in the valley.  The first couple of years that I coached in Hughson, I had a lot of commemts when I'd go out running.  However, after developing a successfull XC program, I have noticed that people are a little more used to seeing people in hardly any clothes running around town.  I haven't been called a Fa--ot in a long time.  Hopefully, the folks in Red Bluff will wake up soon.

Try going up to Redding for some of your runs, there are always a number of successfull runners coming out of that town (most recently Tim Nelson, 20th at Foot Locker Nationals)  Or cruise over to Chico, great running town and a pretty nifty college team there as well.

I feel your pain... I have been to Red Bluff, you are not exaggerating. I live in the North Bay Area. Not so hot in the Summer or cold in the Winter.

    Re: Where Everyone is From

I live in a lower class drinking town in NJ next to the Deleware river and across from Philly P.A. I used to get called a f*g all the time, especially in the winter when I might wear spandex under my shorts. Usually it's "run forest, run". But I have slowly gained some respect. Mostly all the people in my town at or near my age know who I am, others know me as "the kid who rode his bike to the shore". I hear the most **** in other towns now. I got respect in my town cause in my junior and senior years combined, I never got lower than third place in any Xc or a track race in any event. In XC, the schools we ran against sucked horribly, so I was usually way out ahead. Our high school course went around all the sports fields, so all the kids in other sports all got to see me kick some *** against some of the worst atheletes in the area, which made me look better than I actually was, so that's how I got some respect. Now I'm in college and went to NJCAA DIII national championships, people hardly say **** anymore, besides people other towns. I finally got some respect. Now I'm lifting weights so I'll look better with my shirt off when the warm weather comes around, and so people in other towns will keep their mouths shut, and if they don't I'll hopefully have some muscle to back up my lip. Other towns hate my town and think it is racist redneck **** though, so I never say who I am and where I'm from.

P.S. They starred out all my ****ing curse words, sorry about that **** .... lol
