Today, in addition to saluting the Stars and Strips on Flag Day, I salute Frank and Mitzie on 57 years of marriage!!

    Re: June 14, 1953

Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.[1]

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.

Do they still have a big parade in Quincy on Flag Day?

My wife lived in Quincy when we first met.

I remember watching the Quincy Parade with her there back in the late-70s.

Interesting that Obama doesn't use a flag as a backdrop anymore for speeches.  I guess finding one for a lapel team is about all we will ever see on him.

    Congrats

My flag was the only one on the block. Sad.

That day in 1953 I caught 37 crawfish in the bayou and put them in our bathtub. My Mother freaked. We didn't eat them back then so I had to take them back to the bayou.

    Frank had a better day,

    Re: June 14, 1953

Congratulations on the length of your nuptials Frank.  I was born 2 months after you got married!  The bride and I will be 32 years in August.  Life is good...

I have placed a flag in front of any house I have ever owned.  A few years ago after my youngest passed, my wife and I built a Farmer's Porch on the front of the house with a memorial piece to our son.  The first thing I thought to do after that was to buy some nice flag bunting to hang from the rails of the porch.  The flag and bunting make a nice display and if I could figure it out like Chalkline, I'd post a nice picture of a patriotic home in Maine.

Home of the free because of the brave!!

    Happy Flag Day to all...

Talking about fishing, I remember years back traveling from Bklyn, NY, to Quincy Ma. to fish in 3 man boats (cant remember name of place we went, but they had the greatest all night dinner near by that was always packed and had great food.  Caught over 120 fish, including 3 lemon soles.  Great times.

Also interesting, Daque, is that you manage to inject politics into a baseball discussion forum.
