Reno Vault Summit

Ahhhhh. Back home again. I have been gone to Reno, NV. to enhance my knowledge of the Pole Vault. I had the chance to sit in on some very interesting seminars, foremost of which was a talk given by Vitaly Petrov (the coach of Sergey Bubka). I also learned a few good things about sleep patterns and using them to enhance recovery and training.

I will post about that in the competative wire forum, as it is training theory and not directly related to the track stuff. Plus, I know the folks over there will dig it.

Re: Reno Vault Summit
Okay, I was reading the post over at CW, and my post didn't make the cut. snaps his fingers So, I can bother everyone here with it. As I was reading, it would be best to be able to run and then rest with a pattern something like run nap run nap run nap...etc etc So how exactly can we take this concept and apply it to our track running, or even our running in general with those secondary things in life "calling" for our attention?

Re: Reno Vault Summit
Very good point. The weekends never really occurred to me to do that. What intensities would be best? Maybe do one run easier than the other. Say, being I'm still stuck in thinking running in miles and not time, a 4 mi run first followed by a 6 mi? Or with that nap in between, should you be really letting loose with the training and push yourself hard both times, like as if just running the same workout twice? This whole concept seems like it would work beautifully, but I lack the source or knowledge to do it without possiblity of hurting myself.

Re: Reno Vault Summit
Team?? I have no team. sigh I think I may have a coach, but he's a football coach. (our last coach went to another school) That whole idea of having a football coach to train me while trying to reach high goals has made me very worried. So far, and I wouldn't be shocked if a large part of the year, I have been making my own running schedule. I'm doubting this is good, but I can't only hope that this new guy has a clue about distance. sigh But no, the weekends are probably going to be my harder days for lack of rest during the week. So I'll just run those medium distances kinda hard then. Basically though, would I be aiming for something around, say 6:30 pace? Being that I'm going at 7:05 comfortably for now, I know I can reach that by pushing myself. Or would a pace like that be too much for one day with my present physical shape? I think I'm at that point right now when I start to wonder what is better, and that is why I'm asking what pace to go. Because where I'm sitting right now in my training I always find myself wondering what to do, more distance and bit slower or pushing myself faster on the 4.5 to 5 mile run (that's a usual run I do when there is nothing special planned). Alright, I think that's everything. I'm sure this post is a little strayed, but it is still kinda important. kinda dazed and confused himself I really should just stop talking now before I give myself a head ache. lol Thanks for your help!
