I've been running the Silicon Valley marathon for last 2 years, and this will be my third run.
Problem is I don't feel as prepared for this run as others.
For last two runs, I've been doing 5-6 mile runs, with 10 miles to 12 mile runs last minute to prepare my self.
The marathon is in October 31st. Is there still time for me to train meaningfully?
Is there a way to omit out long runs, or break them over a day?
Any other advices that you can share?
For the record- I completed 26.2 miles in 4 hour 30 min on the first run, and 4 hour in second.
I am also looking to do Silicon Valley Marathon on Oct 31st, but have been training for triatholone race for this weekend so I have not put in too much time in running for the last few months. The longest I run recently was 8 miles last weekend. I just came across this article http://www.active.com/running/Articles/4-Steps-to-Condense-Your-Marathon-Training-Plan.htm I think I can modify this plan a little to make it a 5 weeks training plan for me. See if you can use it and apply to your training for the last 5 weeks. Good luck!
