I have ridden several portions of all of these routes.  You could not ask for more of a challenge on the 62 mile route.  The 108 mile route is even more demanding.  The 18 mile route is perfect for the beginner, while the 32 mile route provides a challenge for those that are not quite ready for the 62 mile ride.  The scenery is beautiful and the roads are great.  I'm excited about this ride.  I understand that the rest stops will have baked goods, which I am sure will be a treat.  I am from Washington County and these people know how to cook.  Should be a great event!

Wow talk about organized!! Great Event! Great Ride! Layout was awesome- beautiful scenic views, some great climbs, the rest stops were not too close and not too far away. The volunteers at the fire stations (rest stops) were so friendly and there was a spread that included fresh baked bakery...Hello!! The homemade blueberry muffins were amazing!! The support was great- Police set up at intersections, volunteers on motorcycles circling from rest stop to rest stop, big blinking signs telling drivers that bikers were ahead, signage at every turn, along with painted arrows on the confusion as to which direction to go! Oh and the shirts are great- probably the best one I've gotten so far- bright orange which is a great riding color..I've riden in the MS150 twice and this event was just as well run! Don't miss out next year! RIDE ON!!

The Kaolin Festival Century was an excellant ride!  The routes were great, the roads were great and were very well marked.  The rest stops were very well stocked with plenty of food and drink - there were even baked goods for the riders.  This ride is a must do!

I have rode a number of rides in Ga this year. This rides is right at the top. The roads were marked great. The roads were themselves great. I rode the 62 mile and there were a couple of hills that I had to walk a ways up to let my chain cool off. It was a GREAT RIDE. Hope to see you next year.

    Re: Event Reviews

This was my first organized bike ride event and it was a great experience. I rode the 18 mile route the weekend before and decided to step it up and try the 32 mile ride. The event was really organized. Routes were clearly marked and the route was just right for me- a few hills but nothing too bad. The support was great. The volunteers at the rest stops were very friendly and there was a lot of food to choose from including fresh baked cookies! It was a great first time experience and I will do this ride again next year. I may even try the 62 mile ride next year!

Beautiful ride!  I rode the century (my 3rd this year) and it was a challenging ride...several good climbs and a lot of pedalling.  Well supported rest stops, well marked route, great t-shirt and goodies.  Looking forward to next year!  Put this one on your calendar!

    Re: Event Reviews

I have done many century rides over the last several years and I must say I really enjoyed this one.  The support from the community was fantastic.  The roads were smooth as glass in all but one 7/10 of a mile section (Johnson County).  Very little traffic was encountered during the 109 miles.  The SAG stops were stocked with great snacks and even homemade pound cake (still warm).  The weather could not have been any better.  I would shorten the route down to around 100-102 mile mark.  Mark this on your calendar for next year.

    Re: Event Reviews

This event was so well organized that you could not tell this was a first-time event!  From rest stops to sign-in to route planning to police barricades/escorts to SAG support to route maps and en-route signage, I don't think a single point was overlooked.  I rode the 62 mile route.  It was laid out well with a good mix of rolling hills and flats on smooth well-paved roads with little traffic and very few required stops, and enough direction changes to avoid long stretches exposed to the wind.  The rest-stops were well placed, well stocked, and well staffed with friendly volunteers.  Even the weather cooperated with a beautiful (typical for this time of year in middle Georgia) October day.  Definitely plan to ride next year and hope to be in shape to try the 100 mile route.

With this in mind, the only nit-pick I might throw in is that it would be nice if the 62 mile route was a 'bail-out' option for the 100 mile route.  The two routes split very early.  100 miles was not an option for me this year, but next - perhaps.

    Keep the date!!!

    Re: Event Reviews

The ride was done very well. For a first time ride it was well organized from the registration, to the route marking to the rest stops. Very friendly people at all the stops especially the Tenille stop. Good job!

I would recommend that the 100 mile route split from the 62.5 be later in the ride so that decision could be made later.

    Thanks for a great ride!

This is my first Century Bike ride and I am hooked. Great planning and organizing for the whole event. I guess we should thank the road departments (County and State) for keeping the road is good shape. I made several new friends and have only heard great praises for this bike ride. Thanks to all and looking forward to next year!

    Re: Event Reviews

This was an excellent event, so well organized.  Obviously, there were some talented people involved to have done such a wonderful job on a first-time event.  The volunteers at the rest stops were great ... so friendly and they provided great snacks.  I loved the homemade chocolate chip cookies.  It was also nice to have toilet facilities instead of porta-lets.  I have two suggestions for next year: 1) The painted markings on the road were most helpful, but it would be better to have some additional markings on those long stretches so we know we are still on the right road.  Signage on the side of the road is not always easy to catch when your focus is straight ahead, watching an unfamiliar road.  2) The box lunches at the end were not great.  Protein is good to have, after a ride.  But the sandwich was not that tasty.  I'm not sure what to suggest as a better option.  But after all the goodies at the rest stops, the box lunch was a bit disappointing.

Overall, it was an excellent event and I'll be back, next year.  Thank you for all of your good work and hospitality.

Great ride! Very well organized. Law enforcement were at all the major intersections to keep it safe. There was very little traffic on the roads and the routes were well marked. Rest stops had all you needed and more.  Nice to come home and have a great bike ride on the smooth roads and beautiful countryside. This ride really showcases Kaolin country! Will be back next year!!
